16bit wrote:Didn't want to have to post on here about this, but after reading this thread we have to put things straight.

Our tour has been completely mis-managed from the start and has resulted in us spending money to get around to play the shows. This isn't a problem and we were happy to do that just because we love traveling and playing shows anyway. BUT
We found out that our agency has been collecting massive fees from the promoters (we won't disclose figures on here but it shocked us) which are completely unjustifiable given that we were actually spending money to make this tour happen. Having spoken to them about this and being unable to resolve the situation we could not continue working with them and regrettably can't play the final 3 shows of the tour.
We feel fucking bad for the promoters that paid out to the agency and won't get a show, hopefully they can, and we encourage them to, recoup the money from the agency.
fair enough. no one likes getting ripped off, especially not by the people who are supposed to be supporting you.

tut tut!

Evening all...Just wanted to jump in here after seeing what 16Bit have posted and them saying that the touring agent has ripped them off which I know is not true... I to am a touring agent and obviously the lads dont understand the way the touring game works and that the landed fee the promoters pay goes towards their international flights, accom for the tour period, most domestic flights, work visas, any other little extras that comes into play along the way as well as their fee so why they think they have been ripped off I really dont get, from what I can see the touring agent has provided the service any other touring agent would have.

I know that the touring agent that is being shamed has worked with some of the biggest and best acts from all across the world and never once has he had a complaint so why 16Bit think he has done wrong I really dont know and I know that the promoters involved with this show think the same so maybe when they have think about what they have written in this thread and spoken to a few acts who have done the rounds and had experience in touring Australia maybe we will see a post which which sees them apologising to the agent in question.

Anyway thats my thoughts on the matter, hope you all have a nice weekend :)

the amount of people talking shit when they have either some or none of the facts is staggering.

If you don't have ALL of the facts, leave your conjecture off the internet and don't start cussing people down unless you're at least 100% confident that you are CORRECT. Oh wow you've been on tour yourself - congrats! You weren't on this tour so SHUT UP.

I don't care either way - I'm disappointed that DJs didn't get to enjoy playing their music to happy fans - but when people start gobbing off like this it pisses me off. Let's say it turns out that 16bit are in the clear and have been screwed around themselves - this thread stands as bad publicity and helps precisely noone. GREAT WORK!

Once again - if you don't know ALL THE FACTS, shut up. Voice your disappointment by all means, but cut the mudslinging. :|

OK well lets just see what comes out over the next few days... I wouldnt be on here if I didnt feel strongly about this matter as being based in Australia and who works closely with not only the touring agent in Sydney but the agent in the UK I feel I had a right to say what I did, as I said I dont like seeing a booking agent getting slandered on forums when neither of them have done anything wrong. Australia is a tough place when it comes to touring international acts, I know as I do this every day and it doesnt need things like this to make everyones job a little harder not just for the agents but also for the DJs and at the end of the day we all want the same thing, to put on a good show for the punters and promoters who spend their money to see these acts perform and put on a great show.

As I said hopefully over the next few days things become a little more clearer for everyone and we can all put this to bed and we can move on from this who said who gable.... Yes I know I have only posted 3 things on this website and you can all say what you want but I felt I needed to say what was on my mind as I feel what has happened over the last 24hrs given touring in general a bad name.

After this experience, your :q: right it has!
Again we're compelled to respond to this,
Girders, who are you? Someone at Sounds agency trying to cover your own backs publicly???
We're not putting any specific details on this or any other forum (however tempting that is). Our solicitor is now involved so expect to hear from them in the coming weeks.

Something positive - we've been in touch with Sam in Christchurch and that show is now going ahead

Come on now,

posting up info for a cancelled show is fair enough but posting threads like this is really unprofessional. (this was the final conclusion of the other one?)

It doesn't matter if the reason's for canceling the shows were legit or not, sort it out with the artist/agency/management etc in private, don't bring it onto a public forum.

You are probably thinking to yourself "this'll show them, cancel on me and you won't get gigs round here anymore"

but all you're doing is showing that if something goes wrong and the artist can't make one of your shows then they are going to get shit talked about them in public, not cool at all.If I was touring and I knew there was a promotor out there who acted in this way then I would think twice about doing that show.

Can this thread get a lock and leave you to sort this out in private?

peace
