the point for me is not the technique, its the context, and the impact. in a scene increasingly dominated by earth-shuddering bass, or hyper-lfo'd midrange basslines, he's stepped back and made a tune which relies on subtlety. hearing this in the context of fwd, i could hardly believe what i was hearing. and melodically its just so joyous, so unashamedly uplifting and light
that comment is so irritating i can hardly bear it, as if musical innovation is solely governed by technique

The counter point is, if someone else made the tune you wouldn't be raving about it. Most people wouldn't give it the time of day, but since it's Skream it's revolutionary...

I can see both sides. Skream making an arpeggiated electro-synth flavoured tune is hardly novel but how complex, or not, a tunes programming is doesn't really factor into how good it is imo. Sitting on the fence

Yeah ultimately that's what I'm trying to say, I only went into technique because people compared it to Autechre which is nuts.

i heard it at fwd and went crazy for it, and i didnt know who it was. i listened to the plastician show as soon as i could to hear it, and went crazy for it, and didnt know who it was. he didnt say who it was until after the track. thats why i tried to maintain the anonymity
point is, for me (i cant speak for anyone else), the track stood out a mile, regardless of the producer behind it

Doesn't matter, it's an arpeggiated sound. Here's the definition of the word:
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/arpeggiated
the sounding of the notes of a chord in rapid succession instead of simultaneously.

You're moving the goalposts somewhat there! You said it was an arpeggiator, it wasn't, doesn't mean you were correct because it was an arpeggio!

It just seems like a moot point, you could make the same sound with an arpeggiator. How anal do you really want to get on verbage? At anyrate I think Skream is an amazing producer as well as Hijak. I've said all I wanted to about this track.

skream, rude producer.

depresses me sometimes how quickly something beautiful becomes tarnished when its entrails are fucking picked over on a forum...
wtf is wrong with arpeggiation now?

You get depressed when someone doesn't agree with everyone else about a track?

criticism is open to criticism. its ridiculous that in so many critics eyes, any questioning of their criticism is just reactionary orthodoxy and thus invalid
i think he was saying that when he hears a thing of beauty, which is being celebrated, to have someone bowl through chatting about attack sustain and delay, and how simple (and therefore weak) it is is, is frustrating and tarnishing
thats how i feel anyways

True but lets put things into perspective:
I didn't say the track was crap, I said "nothing ground breaking there".
Now some dude is depressed...
I don't want to think of what may have happened if I thought the track was shit... would have to put some people on suicide watch...
