I have played around with afew... but only four have stuck around...

reason 4--
was a reason 3 user & 4 initially bugged me. the sound is pretty shit in reason along... but this makes ya have to learn more about audio editing software so ya can pimp those waves! the endless combinations are endless!

live--
man this shit is mean for live mixing! also when I play the gat through an effect chain... shit gets sirius*!
I manage to pull off the cheaist didgeridoo sound in hea!

logic--
this is my workhorse... I brought a macbook (with firewire) just so I could have this software! had to work hard as...
sitting on my ass selling selling grams of goodness, while playing pool & counterstrike!!ahhaahha. Can ya tell im baked as?
logic put out a real nice sound. straight out the box its built with the necessary tools. In the end of the day quality is quality!!

protools 8 HD.. broken like humpty dumpty, so no hardware--
best tool for recording, with the best reproduction of sound out of everything I have tried. factory plugins are amazing. Even the sound off the midis is pretty convincing. problem is that you pretty much need to study this shit so ya can do what needs done.
also at course we have like 5 studio that I can book all the time... all are protools connected, so after I have made samples or recordings, I put the file on the flashdrive & sort it out at home. protools is phat. but costs to much ah

anyways... !!chea

And for all the money you spent, surely you want a stable product
Supporting evidence ^

Point proven. Thanks
i'm gonna be honest w/ you. ever since i installed live 8 on my old as shit vaio laptop 2 months ago, it hasn't crashed a SINGLE time.

worst thing that ever happened was the crossfader got swallowed when i was fucking with the gui too much.. a quick reload fixed it.

just sayin.

FUCKIN OPERATOR
the other 10% (probably less now I think about it) are things like the play button which I wouldn't really want to automate anyway

and also... Sytrus

FUCKING SYTRUS

paravrais wrote:Reason can't do your top point no but it's very very automatable, almost every single button or switch can be automated however you like very intuitivly. It might not have the same sample window type thing that ableton and fruity have but you *dont* have to open up a seperate program to listen to samples XD you just have to click 'open sample' on whichever sampler your using and then whatever you click on in the window will be played to you before you insert it into your track. (personally I don't use reason for samples though I do all that in ableton)
Again this was aimed more at cubase and reason, the whole one click approach without any other unecessary windows/menus is just such a time saver I don't see why all DAWs don't have it

I said it somewhere before and I will say it again Ableton/Reaper rewire combo is absolutely amazing, to me they go hand in hand what one doesn't have the other does and I just think they were meant for each other!

Quite a strong opinion. In my own experience taking reaper on the road on my laptop, i found it to be clunky and counter-intuitive with routing.

Anyways, lets put this shit-storm of a thread away shall we? We all agree that we have strong opinions about what we use, and agree that what we use is the best. And what we don't use is the 'worst'... Cause all i see in this thread is a brick-wall argument.

Killjoy. Hehe

Pray tell, what wasn't right with the routing? :o

Were you using the I/O window or just dragging the 'routing jack' from one channel to another?

I have a paid for copy of Logic Audio Pro, which tbf walks over any DAW. That's my opinion anyway.

Both. Getting multiple outs from battery and kontakt was a ball-ache. But anyways, lets put this to sleep 8)

(think i started it somehow in another thread anyways lol)

Yup ;)

----------------

If you ever need to use Reaper with a multiple out VSTi again, there is an easy method for setting it up.

1> Create a track and then create your VSTi on it. In the VSTi, select the default number of outputs.

2> Delete the track and VSTi.

3> Right click on the area where tracks normally sit (the blank space to the left of the sequencer). Select 'Insert Virtual Instrument on New Track'.

4> Select your VSTi from the 'FX' window that displays itself. Reaper should now ask you whether you want it to automatically create multiple tracks and do the routing for you.

5> Click 'Yes'.

You should be sweet to make tunes now :)

Sorry dude but I'm really enjoying this thread XD Try not to take all the trash talk too seriously and just enjoy the squabbaling, I personally am finding it hilarious and could go on for hours :p

Now back to business, Ableton has never crashed for me...well I have occassionally crashed my entire computer by running ableton + reason + itunes + firefox + left 4 dead and then forgetting I had lots of shit open and trying to open something else...man she doesn't like it when I do that...

and sytrus??? really? REALLY?? I MEAN REALLY??? I wouldn't be boasting about that kinda shit if I were a fruity user...the synths that come with it are really just....no.

Oh and I believe It was I that instigated this free for all from that screenshot thread...

"Aaaaaaanyway...how is it that half the threads in this forum boil down to people arguing about their DAWs?? Maybe their should just be one constant stickied thread where people can talk about this constantly to try and keep it out of other threads..."

still think its a good place to just have this thread open so people dont bitch about their daws in other threads all the time cos it gets annoying and detracts from the original topic. Here it's in it's proper place though
