All been mentioned, but my voted are:
Peep Show,
Nathan Barley,
Black Books,
Garth Merenghi's: Dark Place
Father Ted (I don't think anyone said this...which offends me)
Extras
The Office.
Plus, if you're with your gf get Gavin & Stacey.
I don't turn on Korn to get it on, I be playin Digi Mystikz 'til the dawn

Why has no one said Arrested Development ? SHAME ON YOU ALL.

Also, Trailer Park Boys is a must.

Thank you.

The characters and the writing are just much stronger in the US version. In the UK version you've got David Brent, Tim, Gareth, and Dawn. The rest of the characters are completely unremarkable.

In the US version you've got:
Michael
Jim
Dwight
Pam
Angela
Kevin
Oscar
Meredith
Andy
Phyllis
Stanley
Kelly
Ryan
Creed
Erin
Darryl
Toby

and so many more. Each with their own hilarious stories, relationships (Kelly/Ryan, Jim/Pam, Andy/Erin, etc), conflicts (Michael/Toby FTW), etc, etc. The characters are all so fucking great that I really can't pick a favorite (although if I had to it'd be between Michael, Dwight, Creed, Darryl, Toby, Stanley, and Kevin  ).

The UK version is small scale. Less bigger charaters, and not designed for series after series.

The US version was designed (like all US series) to go on and on until the world ends, and thus needs more character story lines to encorporate this fact.

The US version is written better, and has more variation and depth in characters, but imo the UK version is better due only to the feeling it gives me when I watch it.

US Version - Brilliant US Sitcom.
UK Version - The Office.

if you like stargate

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA

(the remake)

really deep and philosophical at the same time. very story driven, each episode really pushes forward the plot a lot. i got obsessed with it over the past month and have been watching all of it. The allusions to real world goings on are brilliant; in fact the UN loved all its messages about war and torture and stuff and made it like the official series of the UN so at every conference theres loads of Battlestar Galactica characters there as well.

Fucking Brilliant 8)

at least the uk comes up with original shows. the usa has a habit of copying them and creating their own versions - US Office, US Ashes to Ashes, US Life on Mars and I heard they're making a US version of peep show

The US Office was good, but I can't see it being possible to make a better Peep Show.
