You know the way grimeforum has "Clichéd Threads" subforum.
Not referring to this thread but always thought that was a good idea, just sayin

i'm also up for this, but it does seem a shame that we feel we don't have much of a connection with dubstep anymore and feel forced to branch off in order to grow our little sub genre regardless or what we think is house or not. we just all share the same values and we are all entitled to a better outlet imo

Jackmaster said it best - i just see this as the 'good music' part of DSF, doesn't make any odds to me what it is or isn't called.

To be perfectly honest i only ever go into the main bit if i'm bored and looking to read some nonsensical bitch-fest that'll pass 20 minutes of my time. Sad, maybe, but true :i:

i think keeping this forum labelled as "house" also keeps out a lot of people that troll the main forum/are looking for the "filthiest tune ever"/etc/etc...that make sense?

most of this stuff doesn't sound like 90s chicago house, but who cares. (i think the FUNKY banner was better fwiw, but then most of the ukf purists don't think it's "real" funky, either, so once again WHO CARES! : )

Whilst I can't see the label thing getting any better, sometimes I wish that they would actually pay for some proper advertising, and I'm not suggesting
expensive magazine pages etc, there are banners that can be put on popular blogs for small fees. That kind of thing.

Just my thoughts on the subject doesn't mean I'm right!
i'm interested in the record label spamming point
i didnt start my label with much of a spare budget and we're certainly not making huge sums of money believe me
so posting details of releases here has been a immeasurable help & resource for me for which I am very grateful
given me cause to consider whether i should in the future

to be honest, i don't think many people mind you posting up info of new releases on here. it helps keep people up to date with future releases and most of us are interested in labels like yours. when you're reading hundreds of posts for generic dubstep tune 099 on dubtwat records in the main section it does get pretty annoying but that's not really the case here

and it's usually in the hype threads that people end up discussing a tune so it's not like those threads are purely there for "spam" purposes

exactly, in EDM we have such a long history of jumping ship and trying to distance ourselves from other parts of the 'nuum, it sucks! i like that a lot of us are still on here and a majority of us don't try to draw divisions by saying silly things like "dubsteps dead" and "i only listen to future garage", etc. history has shown us that dance music is best when it's not pigeonholed into a specific sound, but instead is an amalgamation of many styles and tempos

imho

FGF is being ruined by people posting really inane posts and lots of spam. It should be like DSF used to be but it's not.

Im pretty sure hes talking of the spammers that have ''Joined sept 2008, total posts, 6'' kinda thing next to their posts, with no real relevence to this forum. they dont contribute much, but the vast majority of label-masters on here contribute a lot more with info, mixes, nights etc.

But there's a start for anything right? So why shouldn't a labelowner (who's pretty unknown on this forum) post the new release on the label? Maybe it's a good one, maybe a bad one audience decides. Imho it's got that we get notified about the new releases...it helped me a lot in finding new music...

Edit: For example this: http://www.dubstepforum.com/phuture-sho ... 53409.html ...the guy who posted had 2 posts but it doesn't mean that the tunes on his label aren't big.

Yeah sure, but the byword here is 'relevance' and is it pertinent to this section?, if you find something you like, it doesn't mean that others are automatically gonna like it.
They might think the tunes are waste, therefore clogging up the forum.
Take the main forum for instance, there's a section on there for new releases and labels, does it get ignored by some who STILL stick up waste promotion threads? yes of course it does!
I reckon this is unfair and does a disservice to other labels who do the decent thing and play the game by the rules. The new or old companies that ignore those guidelines and rules, take the piss basically.

For my two pence worth, if it 'ain't compatible with the subject matter, it shouldn't be here.
TBH I would personally like to hear more forum members putting their tracks up rather than record label releases.

Donga mate, you know I wasn't having a crack at you. There's been lots of promotion going on down of late on here of stuff that doesn't fit the picture.
Your label doesn't fit into that category.
There are some more established labels that do have larger budgets, get lots of media exposure and freely advertise their wares.
I'm all for the small struggling labels to 'have a go' as it were.

@mondayschild: I don't get ya? If you have an issue name names and we can go from there. I don't see the difference between a producer posting their track or me as a label saying I liked it so much I'm behind it (and put my money on the line as an act of faith in this music) and I'm offering it up to the forum for comment and support (if any)...or someone buying it and then offering it up for discussion without my input...
