Amazing how much the thought have changed on teh forum about it. Plastic you must remember the post I did about this about half a year ago! Ended up with someone form Serato getting involved.
I have to say I've got nothing but good things to say about it. One ONCE did I have a problem but it was the day I got it, all excited I just plugged it in and started the show, glitched afterabout 30mins but this was due to it being installed on a crap old laptop!
And I still buy records, that a whole different addiction! I know I'll ever stop buying records.

If it wasn't things like scatch i wouldn't have had a fraction of my tunes played on the radio that i have. So, I gotta support it.
Large up all sratch and ting users.

Nah, if you've got a properly mastered WAV i dont think theres an ounce of difference. Aethethics over sound if you ask me..incyde wrote:yes indeed Serato/FS2 can certainly have its advantages. Even tho it won't compare to vinyl in sound quality, it can get pretty close. I just bought 15 quality tracks off bleep for $20. You can not beat that deal... and the ability to preview each song in its entirety.... no waiting for stuff in the mail... and the best part is if you can pick and choose individual tracks, not bound by buying a record for just one track and stuck with another two that you dont dig so much.
its pretty sweet... but i'm still buying vinyls for the bangers and new releases... i dont think i am ready to let myself be bound to using a laptop in my performances just yet

Serato can give nasty ground loop problems in some setups, so anyone who uses it should check that the amount of buzz coming through on the deck channel before serato is setup is the same as after it's setup. Otherwise you could be making other DJ's sets sound wack because there'll be a nasty buzz in the brakdowns.
At Ruffage last night it only took about half an hour to setup the High Pressure soundsystem, and it took another half hour of just fiddling with plug sockets to stop the fucking buzzing!

Dood, Serato has been out for what 5 years before Tractor Scratch came out. Might explain that a bit. They are both awesome imo.gizzmo wrote:yeah that explains why everyone I know uses serato. also explains why most of the clubs in the states that have a system "installed" use serato.
I am using Torq. Highly recommended for the Skint crew. I use it for everything. I still use vinyl too though.
