One of the beautiful things about Dubstep in the US is that we aren't confined by the expectations of the UK. No matter what we do, a handfull of retards are gonna chat shit on us no matter what so fuck it. Just do whatever gets you going.

I know, I was supposed to play after you guys at Horizons festival back about a month ago - till the damn cops showed up.Sharmaji wrote:denver and boulder have really strong music scenes. Colorado in general is a suprisingly huge market-- we've been out there 4 times so far this year, with more booked to come. Boulder's definitely the epicenter of the US crossover between electronic music and this whole jamband thing-- Alex B/pneuma trio, big gigantic, eoto all have home bases there.

The problem with the scene in baltimore is that the scene consists of mostly chainsaw, aggressive loud dubstep with kids running around with glow sticks, white gloves and clown pants. All that is cool...but not my cup of tea.
The more minimal sound just does not come around. The demand is not there or the promoters are not throwing those parties..

Just look at the poor guy who tried to get song IDs for an Excision set. No helpful answers so far, just people ripping.
A lot of people on this forum are unhelpful .

For sure man, I'm very happy that I live in Denver right nowAnd no worries, if I let DSF dictate my taste in music, I wouldn't be putting out tunes like the one in my sig.
Well met, btw, dubsaw has been releasing some monster tunes lately!

you'll never go anywhere with that attitude. its defeatist, and you've built an "american dubstep" wall around yourself.pkay wrote:in the US is that we aren't confined by the expectations of the UK.

How is that defeatist even in the slightest? So lets try that again, this time giving the full context of what i said instead of picking out a small portion and trying to take it out of context. I think you mistook me for saying 'cant please brits so don't even try'. Instead more so saying 'haters gonna hate, don't worry about them'seckle wrote:you'll never go anywhere with that attitude. its defeatist, and you've built an "american dubstep" wall around yourself.pkay wrote:in the US is that we aren't confined by the expectations of the UK.
location has absolutely NOTHING to do with it. look at starkey, djg, kyle hall, matty g, falty dl, moldy, distal, etc etc....and those are just a handful of americans as an example.
I'm saying enjoy the fact that here in the US we aren't weighed down by the sub-genre divisions going on elsewhere in dubstep. Words like "beautiful things" would imply a positive outlook on our scene here, and embracing the fact we have quite a bit of freedom and acceptance for filth, brostep, roots and classic dubstep.pkay wrote:One of the beautiful things about Dubstep in the US is that we aren't confined by the expectations of the UK.
