If you love dubstep music, and you're aware of the great releases of 2010, how can Girl Unit rank at the TOP of this output? Surely it can be respected as very appropriate in the clubs... it has a nice hip hop vibe, the production is quite impeccable. But it's also the sound of the moment, yknow? It's fun, but it seems to lack depth. I would worry to see this sound placed in the position of DUBSTEP OF THE YEAR.
it's a good tune because it's hype as fuck without resorting to cheap chainsaw wobble antics. the bass kicks, i like the little synth melody and the vocals fit perfectly. it would go off in the club which at the end of the day is where this music is meant to be heard (not that the bedroom tracks have any less or more merit for doing their own thing)

the fuck???
most of their tunes are around the 135-140 dubstep range
funky is 125-130 usually
no its not uk funky
I call it R n G. Lots of releases in 04-05. Artists that come to mind are J Sweet Kid D Floops Low Deep. Its more grime than anything. Check the Grime instrumentals releases : http://www.htfr.com/quicksearch/?text=g ... tals&type=
Sounds like the ALOT like the crappy club rap being made over here.. Well without someone retarded shouting non-sense on it. So I guess I can give it a +1 for that, but not really understanding the hype?
I'm sorry this isn't very good. It's so incredibly cheesy.
I'd rather it wasn't saved and left as it was frankly. I mean the Jack Sparrow album just came out. If you think dubstep needs saving from that then I'll embrace it's death with open arms.
Well put, sir!
Icicle, Ben Verse, Kryptic Minds, Jack Sparrow et. al are doing a very nice job already, and not resorting to cheap club antics.
So far noone has actually made a case for why this stuff is good. Sounds like fat, club-worthy productions, decent, but repetitive rhythm, and straight up BORING melodic progressions, if any. If this is "label of the year" we're really in trouble...
This is my shit too. Makes up a small faction of dubstep listeners these days but this style has never been better than right now imo. DJG and Headhunter you gotta throw in there too. Lot's of lesser known names doing big stuff as well. Anyway I get into different moods... the Girl Unit stuff sounds like something I could get into possibly, I have to check again. I heard the clips the other night and passed
