I love how it has a mathematical shape, but it has some imperfection, like the little air bubble in the bottom right hand corner.

same applies for production, the more you learn the more you realize you have a shitload more to master :6:

Cases in point... same people... same thread.

Its a production forum, not an inspiration forum.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

i guess i'm gonna have to take the middle road here. dsf production forum is what it is. it's dubstep specific...which in itself should set off some alarms. a forum which is currently revolving around a very popular sound is gonna breed threads relating to "lfo" "how i make (insert producer) basslines" etc. once in awhile you might get some more interesting shit....i know i've seen several, just not as many in the past week or so.

havent the vast majority of the people here only been making not just dubstep, but music in general for less than 2 years (or so)? people are flocking here to learn about making a "flavour of the month" genre. i mostly read this place for the sheer banter.

i think if people really want to get all geeky and technical, they'd be better off heading to one of the many more geeky, technical, and advanced production forums out there. i find most daw related ones to be technical as fuck. and also shit like kvr and gearslutz. they exist for a reason.

as far as all the artsy shit, sure there can always be more, but that sort of shit breeds pretentiousness. i'm sure you'll find a lot of that on indierock/popforum.com or some shit

****i would like to see more shit relating to how to create mood...or how to use rhythm to create a sense of suspense or something along those lines. how to fuck with the listener emotively. or how to make muthafuckas feel extremely uneasy and paranoid listening to your shit...hahaha that would be fucking gold. because ultimately that's what most of our favourite producers are doing, whether it's brostep vs everything else. what makes their music sound so emotive and our (or let me just say my) music so bland? thats the sort of questions i want to see more of.

but beggars cant be choosers i suppose (probably blatantly misusing the phrase here, but whatever...fuck off  )

it's sort of like when people ask questions like "appropriate programs for dubstep production" or "help me make a dubstep snare" "or what makes a good dubstep song" "are my hi-hats dubstep enough" "am i in a proper dubstep mentality?" "should i get dubstep boxers" "my girlfriend is dubstep" and i think to myself " :u: "...but really...it's a production forum under the dubstep banner. it blatantly is bait for them sort of pirhannas (sp?)

I say bring on the tech talk!

@Legen4ry - If you've been feeling a lack of inspiration for music, go and do other things. Shit, when I was a kid I used to play computer games each and every day. These days, my interests have changed and I focus on other things. While occassionally I yearn for a late night RPG session or deathmatch, mostly I realise that what once was is no more and embrace the new things before me.

Peace. :)

I would not call gearslutz technical, its more about geeks wanking over each others pic's of manley preamp imo.

My prize for getting a job / becoming self employed is to buy a phat PC and Fallout 3 + 2 weeks of dedicated game time...! :)

Fair point, you got to separate the wheat from the chaff.
