This will be the first Bloc I'm not going to but that's not from choice just from financial problems, the atmosphere is normally very positive, there is a good mixture of all sub-cultures of people if you can call it that (hipsters, beardy chin strokers, old wreck heads, dreadlock crustys, young wreck heads, wide boys, techno heads, ....you get my drift) I think that's the good thing about Bloc its not really dominated by one kind of people and I think because of that there is never animosity or bad vibes, some people are there cause their friends are but the most go because they really like the line up and good music, I think since it moved to Minehead it has been better, the accomodation is better and overall the clientelle is better, their is also a better female/male ratio than at the first one I also have to say that I think the line up this year is really strong compared to some of the faillings of last year so all in all you will have a really good time and by the time you lose your mind on Sunday I suspect you will be able to relax in the main room to the vibes of Iration Steppas and have a pint of Guiness, Channel One last year on Sunday was a massive highlight for me, hope everyone has a good time!!

Another question. How strict are they on the ol' pharmaceuticals.
and whats the deal with alcohol? is it like other festivals where you can't really take your own into arena's and stuff?

Security has got tighter over the last few, I was searched by security in the venue a few times when I was just rolling cigarettes and got searched going in numerous times as well but the chalets are so close by anyways, same goes for booze I would just leave it in the room, only takes 5 minute to jog back, no point in getting chucked out for a 5 minute walk.

Don't give the game away jack! ;)

Security into the arena is very strict, felt like going through customs last year and you will get searched at least once...i hit 5 times but maybe i just look dodgy.

In the chalet area it's much more relaxed and your own private space is respected and we didn't get bothered last year. Smoked in our little flat through the whole weekend last year without the fire alarm going off as well which was wicked. Thought we would whack a condom over it when we arrived only to realise when we were leaving that it was split..probably for most of the time.

Flying Lotus' set is still the best live performance i have ever experienced, blew me away. Came away with enough funny stories and had an incredible time last year. Coming this year no matter what!
BOOMsHaNKA!an interception!
.....But that’s always the chance you take.

NEW LITTLE MIX COOKED UP. lovely.

If you look like a bit of a druggy, always take pretty girls with you to festivals. They don't get searched.

Check this exclusive stream of a new Venetian Snares track from Bloc 2011 via Hyponik!

Soundcloud

The track, imaginatively titled ‘There Now You Have Syphilis’, spills out the speakers in an acid-drenched onslaught of typically manic polyrhtyhms and overt drum programming, settling into its own incongruous groove around the halfway mark.

Having recently launched his own Timesig label with new album ‘My So Called Life’, Aaron Funk is set to perform at the Overkill stage at this year’s Bloc festival, alongside DJ Funk, King Midas Sound, Daedelus, Carsten Nicolai and Jimmy Edgar, providing what will undoubtedly be a full on soundtrack of the very fines electronics and bass.

You can also read a nice interview with Kevin Martin, AKA The Bug and one third of King Midas Sound, over at the Bloc Weekend website…

There will also be copies for sale of all the BRACKOUT releases that have come out so far, including the forthcoming #03 'Spilt Cider' which is a total banger! Chekkit!

Here's the line-up, see ya front left!

Dexorcist - [Battletrax, SMB]
Jerome Hill - [Don't, Swerved]
Ben Pest - [Ninja Tune, Bonus Round]
