Now this I agree with. As far as I am concerned, take Drum and bass for example, there is just drum and bass. Liquid, Jump up, and any other names are just descriptors for the genre.
just because a song sounds slightly unique to the genre does not make it a new genre.
and this does piss me off greatly.

hmmm, but then you get (as in like the thread above this att he time) people coming out with things like cracklestep, postdubstep etc. nahnah, to me its just dubstep, i was just using them as an example but again, they are just a different style of DnB to me, a way of describing the sound not the genre.
all IMO of course.
all IMO of course.

Re: 'Screamo' Samples/Acapellas?
@deadly: screamo's been around for about 20 years now, just in the last 5 years there has been a trend to label music that has nothing to do with it 'screamo' for marketing purposes. i suppose you know what i'm talking about, so don't judge the music by that.
@aqua, asking the question why anyone would want to be screamed at: that's like saying battlerap listeners like to have their mothers insulted. as a screamo listener you tend to identify with the singer/lyrics, the fact that they're screamed aims to make it more emotionally extreme (at least that's how it used to be). which is a great idea somehow, it's like listening to an angst-filled tantrum. i totally understand if someone doesn't like it, the sound of a person screaming being obviously something rather unpleasant.
@OP:
0:38, sample that. remember using that in a crappy breakcore mashup, it was awesome
intro, has been sampled to death i suppose. it's not that good because there's guitar noise underneath the scream (you'll hear that when repitching it) but it's better than nothing. not screamo at all tho.
and to everyone wondering why emo hxc kids love uber filthy dubstep, it's because it sounds like a continuous breakdown (breakdowns, if you didn't know, are the guitar-y equivalent to a FACKIN BRUTAL DROP M8 and they killed hardcore)

Re: 'Screamo' Samples/Acapellas?
Well, I only just read the posts weeks after the latest post...
Please don't assume that I listen to Skrillex. Because I don't? I've never listened to a full released track by him. I've only heard segments of his mixes on youtube every now and then. All I needed was a screamo sample for an intro... nothing more.
Judging by everyone's reactions, I assume Skrillex resamples screams into a midrange bass... excuse me for being naive, but I don't actually want to click the play button on his tracks. The midrange/bass I've heard that Skrillex has made sounds a lot like other sounds that are mass produced in dubstep/brostep/whateveryou want to call it, so I have no interest in listening to it again.
IMO.
Sorry if I sound like cnut here:
I don't want to rage too hard. Got some good responses, so cheers

Assumptions are going to really kill this forum... I accept views and opinions of others, I understand why people hate screamo and the commercialisation of dubstep... but accusing people based on assumption is, well...Basic A wrote:but now, here's one of your copy cats. Re: 'Screamo' Samples/Acapellas?
so, i listen to a bit of skrillex (yeah yeah get over it, i also tend to listen to real dubstep more that that midrange cack), but in what skrillex tunes does he 'scream' in? anyone care to elaborate, or are you only assuming that he does because he was in a band before he made dubstep...?
Re: 'Screamo' Samples/Acapellas?
someone speculated his bass sounds are made by screaming into a mic and then applying resampling, lots of FX and whatnot and for some reason everyone acepted that theory. but in all his previous bands/projects (an ex-gf was totally into everything he did) he never screamed, instead singing in a whiny, nasal high-pitched voice. (i personally find it cringeworthy, especially the fact that said ex compared him to björk which is utter blasphemy.)goodeh wrote:so, i listen to a bit of skrillex (yeah yeah get over it, i also tend to listen to real dubstep more that that midrange cack), but in what skrillex tunes does he 'scream' in? anyone care to elaborate, or are you only assuming that he does because he was in a band before he made dubstep...?
so i think it's bs

he did a remix containing lots of chopped-up screams though, so it's possible that he used samples but again, i really really doubt that.
here's the remix:

ah i see, yeah from first to last was his band? i personally believe its bs too, he just doesnt seem that type of guy to do that imohasezwei wrote:someone speculated his bass sounds are made by screaming into a mic and then applying resampling, lots of FX and whatnot and for some reason everyone acepted that theory. but in all his previous bands/projects (an ex-gf was totally into everything he did) he never screamed, instead singing in a whiny, nasal high-pitched voice. Re: 'Screamo' Samples/Acapellas?
yup, i think he broke his nose and then they kicked him because his voice was kinda fucked up from that point on (at least thats what my ex said). he then did some weird electropop project called sonny, started doing electro/fidget-house remixes of other scene bands and then moved on to brostep. his whole discography is not my cup of tea at all but i give him props for finally making quality music, or... well, quality brostep.goodeh wrote:ah i see, yeah from first to last was his band? i personally believe its bs too, he just doesnt seem that type of guy to do that imohasezwei wrote:someone speculated his bass sounds are made by screaming into a mic and then applying resampling, lots of FX and whatnot and for some reason everyone acepted that theory. but in all his previous bands/projects (an ex-gf was totally into everything he did) he never screamed, instead singing in a whiny, nasal high-pitched voice. Seems like whenever people want to try something new on this forum they get shot down instantly, if that's what music hes into why not let him play around with it. I would rather see this than the endless wobble threads

it's not screamo in the least, but Lamb of God's last two albums have a "producers edition" with all the instruments separated for every song on their. And Lamb of God is pretty damn brutal. Loads of good stuff in there to be mined for sure.
Re: 'Screamo' Samples/Acapellas?
all the instruments including the voice? (dont know that band but if it's deah metal growly stuff i'm interested... GRANULIZED GROWLS HELL YEAH!)FaithInTheGlitch wrote:it's not screamo in the least, but Lamb of God's last two albums have a "producers edition" with all the instruments separated for every song on their. Lamb of God is effing brutal. And yeah, it's the vocals too. Even broken into layers - like clean/gutterals. Drums, lead guitar, rhythm, drums. Everything. This is my fave song by them.hasezwei wrote:all the instruments including the voice? (dont know that band but if it's deah metal growly stuff i'm interested...
