Just talked to my guy, he's already shopping for subs.
@boring good luck keeping it underground. Tons of mainstream artists are now working on projects with dubstep producers and it's a very fast growing genre. It's been in the basement for a while now and has no signs of stopping. Deeper and darker is great, but you're gonna have to accept that it's getting bigger also. I have nothing to gain financially out of the deal either, i'm just trying to support the scene and give the Lower East Side some dubstep.

How about Johnny Rabb from Biodiesel? At one time, he was documented as the "worlds fastest drummer". I did a small tour with them a couple of years back. I saw Johnny do things on a drum set that i didnt think were possible.joebeef wrote:Edgecom, i challenge you to find me a better live drummer in the scene than Mike Greenfield from Lotus. He filled in on tour with disco biscuits while their drummer had the flu and you would never have known that he was not their main drummer

Re: NYC needs more dubstep
konkrete jungle is on the lower east side every monday as of a month ago , and there's some dubstep every week. also, there are big room headliner dubstep parties regularly nowadays, and shit has gotten pretty mainstream. if you ask a kid on the street what is drum and bass? they might not know. but they know what dubstep is. i'm not sure if you just moved here recently or something but what you are describing has been happening for a while now already. there are bigger shows than there were before, and hundreds if not thousands of new fans than there were five or six years ago. im not sure what kind of "push" you think dubstep needs ?
i'm not saying don't do your thing, but the situation you describe here is just inaccurate. there's already always something to do. this weekend is a perfect example.

I'm still not convinced this isn't troll bait, JOEBEEF what actually is your point, statement or whatever that your trying to put across.
Why would random people from a forum want to throw a party with a random person who is showing very little knowledge of the music in the city they are based?

JRabb is a god. He taught a drum set clinic in Atlanta quite a few years a go for when kids when I was in middle school. He revolutionized sampling with electric kits and literally invented the one handed drum roll which opened up a whole new subgenre of soloing. Really nice guy too.

Re: NYC needs more dubstep
As a Jersey kid, I envy the scene in the city. I only live about 40 minutes from NYC but that's a hell of a distance when you just want to get blitzed and get an earful of dubstep. Because of this, I usually just end up going to Loop Lounge in Passaic on Thursdays for cheap 40oz and good tunes.

Re: NYC needs more dubstep
Yes yes, Mr Bugsly do wicked shows. NYC is poppin off in general right now for beats and bass, it's a wonderful time to be living in the city.
Re: NYC needs more dubstep
I wonder why jersey doesn't have much of a dubstep scene or a rave scene. I am always meeting people from jersey at philly shows and my boys in jersey are always goin to NYC for parties. Seems to me like there is enough of a demand that a spot in jersey would do well. Even big jersey club producers like tim dolla are starting to incorporate dubstep into their sets. http://soundcloud.com/djtimdolla/dj-tim ... ent-monday.justinshmustin wrote:As a Jersey kid, I envy the scene in the city. if your from the NJ/NYC area this may be something your interested in. its taking place next Saturday. the artists roster may be unknown to you, but it is a community of friends, with like minded tastes, and strive for a quality with no genre barriers. our location is something special, and thats what we want to stress. creativity, and longevity. oh and the sound goes BOOM promise.

Re: NYC needs more dubstep
I am moving over to Brooklyn in 22 days. Looking forward to meeting all you NYC cats
Re: NYC needs more dubstep
I've been living in Brooklyn for about 6 months now and my only complaint is that there are TOO MANY shows! Seems like every week there are 3-4 shows that I want to hit up and no money / time to make them.
On that note, see you all at Twisup on Friday!
