+1000 for Fab Filter Volcano. Soooo powerful, and so user friendly. It's really complex, but the interface just makes sense so it's not so daunting. It also has a lot of useful presets, which is nice when you don't know what you are looking for, then you can tweak to spec.

Check out anything by Fab Filter, they have some wiiiicked plugs.

Would not say that FilterShaper is superior in any way, that really is a matter of taste. What Steffen and I were interested in when designing it was to do a very clean UI and the possibility to modulate cutoff and resonance easily and smoothly. I do not like all these gated effects which just let you draw hard steps, or others where drawing modulation is very difficult to do. So, drawing the modulation was really the intend, and I think we archived something special here. If you are for this, then maybe FilterShaper is your thing. Also, you can modulate volume (for example simulate sidechain compression and really fine-tune the slope), or modulate pan. To the advertising: I only posted because I saw others mentioning FilterShaper, and this was just while we did the introductory offer for the Cableguys Bundle. So I thought posting about it would be ok. But I can well understand that this is questionable. It was kind of an impulsive thing to do from me. I absolutely LOVE sugarbytes WOW filter. This puppy has every type of filter you will need, different vowel parameters, excellent envelopes and LFO's, a great overdrive, and an overall superb sound!

It is extremely easy to get what you want, and there is a lot of creative potential in it. Overall it delivers the best sound I have heard.
