Some people on here are going on like playing Doctor P at DMZ is like burning the Koran outside a mosque.

I'm pretty sure (from experience) that when you get booked to play at DMZ, you are not handed a contract specifying what is acceptable to play on the night.

If people didn't enjoy it thats fair enough.... But not enjoying Skream & Benga's set purely because of the venue / night you heard it at is a bit petty. They were booked to play a Skream & Benga set, and it sounds like they did exactly that from listening to the audio.

the only thing i'll say is i think its a bit of a cheap cop-out to say everyone that didn't like the set was disappointed because they're stuck in 05-06, some people just found the music to be poor, whats the beef? people can't criticize now if they've got points they think are valid? the board can't be expected to be a circle jerk posting positive responses 100% of the time cos that's just silly and unrealistic

also like someone has said...goth trad and vivek's set seems to be getting the highest ratings overall (deservedly so because it was amazing) and correct me if i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure all the songs they played either came out in 2010, are gonna come out this year or were dubplates so that whole 05/06 nostalgia argument is null and void imo...also, loefahs set got huge ratings and that sound is progressive too...so what point do people really have?

and lastly, i just feel like sometimes this board is too scared of objectively criticizing things (and feel the need to pad up their posts by declaring how much they love and respect said artist beforehand)...and i'm not saying straight out hating because that should always be cut out...but i don't understand the problem people have with people having a negative opinion if its based on valid points? just my 2p

the set sounded terrible, and if skream and benga are big boys, then they can handle criticism

it doesnt matter that they're pioneers, they played a wack set and yeah people are calling them out for it. we shouldnt have to hold our tongues because somebody famous might get offended ..... fuck that. i was watching on boilerroom.tv and i had to turn it off after about 2-3 songs into their set . it was unbearable ..

Dont be silly...

Its like burning a Koran INSIDE a mosque.

And i'm guessing if you did that you would get a massive over-reaction from the faithful followers of Islam whilst everyone else would be standing around like 'What the fuck is the big deal?'.

Basically whats happening here. DJs are gunna play what they like. And for the record i wasn't a massive fan of the set and think the raw dogz vip is just awful

Well I loved it.. most of it was typical Skream. Just the Datsik track at the end (the recording doesn't get to that) was too much for me to handle. A couple of Circus tracks are fine. Big ups Skream.. u woke me up! :4:

First and Foremost i have nothing but respect for Skream and what he has achieved and quite frankly he is a production genius. For myself DMZ is about enjoying the best in sub music on the best soundsystem in the most ideal Rave setting with a crowd of people all there to do the same thing. Before everybody continues to throw their toys out the pram about skream and bengas set last night i personally had an overwhelming feeling that the majority of people at DMZ last night had no idea what they had come to. For those who left understanding what it was all about then that is brilliant, but i feel that a fair percentage of people there are the MCat sniffing melt my face off people that i do not wish to spend my time "raving" with.

There are far more things to take from last night than dropping Doctor P, it's of my opinion that it shouldn't have been played, but with that said what would my opinion then be on joe nice playing pump up the jam? or kode 9 begining with warren g - regulators cause i can remember grinning like a cheshire cat as these came on, i didn't come to DMZ to hear those songs played so why would i complain about Doctor P being dropped.

My point is that there should be no "hating" on Skream for any song he's played as with an event like DMZ there should be a self indulgent nature where by the DJ decides to play a song by which he feels the crowd will react. A reaction has most certainly happened. If anything i feel that a hell of a lot of the people there last night loved that it was dropped and to those whose talk of eyes looking around the room at each other then i really beg to differ. The diversity of the music last night was brilliant yet if we were to talk about people not understanding what DMZ is about then may i pose some questions:
1. During V.I.V.E.K and Goth Trad why were 95 percent of people stood doing nothing for the best part of an hour? (not that i expect people to be going nuts to deep medi but there was a lack of appreciation to a brilliant set.
2. James Blakes Harmonix mix of Changes went down like a led baloon which is shocking considering its bigger than George Elikobi (OF Wolverhampton Wanderers Left back Fame)
3. Loefahs set (bare the technical faults) was absolutely brilliant yet as each Boddika and Pearson Sound tune was dropped there was an almost exasperated feel about the crowd, which i feel was a very very young crowd, As i beat my hang along to the drum pattern on many occasions i noticed that i was the only 1 doing so.
4. Surely we should not be spending time talking about one song that was played and instead thanking Mala and Coki for again providing a stella line up for DMZ. For working tirelessly to get what they wanted and for making such a night feel like such a spiritual haven.

To all those who feel let down by what was played i understand, but the other 100 plus songs dropped that night should outweight the moments of disapoint you held when P was dropped.

Again Thank You to Mala and Coki.

it was just one disappointing set to some people.. others enjoyed it from what i've heard.

let's not hang skream just yet though, eh? wait until he gives us another free album..

also, i don't think either of them deserve hate at all, but why is skream getting more hate than benga during all this? seems a bit unfair to stick all the blame on skream.. or am i missing something?

the insanely ironic thing is how much forumsteppers preach hearing dubstep in person on a legit system, how a dmz show is different cause of the vibe... yet 90% of the people doing the hating weren't at the show and their only sourcing is at best through their studio monitors at home.

Fair way to judge a set imo! Computer chair's are thick with vibe
