German last names have the biggest representation, followed by Irish ones shortly behind.
The ethnicity Americans lie WAY MORE about being [than Irish] is Native American.
And it is my understanding that surprisingly quite a lot of people in america do have native american blood.
And fuck all y'all, there are a lot of people here with irish ancestry.

Never seen it. If it bothers you so much, you should stop watching that show. You seem fairly traumatized.laurent__duval wrote:nowaysj wrote:So?

I'll be sure to celebrate the Royal Wedding with tea, scones, egg and cress sandwhiches and deck the house out with Union flags and bunting, pip pip.laurent__duval wrote:got a shit tonne of work to do i'll not be enjoying st patricks day.
i do find it funny how americans go so crazy for national holidays, like christmas and halloween. i'm perhaps a little bit jealous too. the UK doesn't really to do it in the same way. and if we do its certainly got something to do with the amount of american media mixed in with ours.

That kind of behaviour will have you branded a member of the national front these days.firky wrote:I'll be sure to celebrate the Royal Wedding with tea, scones, egg and cress sandwhiches and deck the house out with Union flags and bunting, pip pip.laurent__duval wrote:got a shit tonne of work to do i'll not be enjoying st patricks day.

This is a really really good 60 pg. synopsis that describes the history and destruction of nationalism used by both the left and the right by Fredy Perlman.

please explain modern irish politics and please enlighten all of us about our own historyslothrop wrote:I generally agree with immigrant solidarity, although white americans holding a banner saying "English out of Ireland" need to
a) get a clue about modern Irish politics and

However think the poster you replied to has a point the message would have been better served had that been left off the banner.During the St. Patricks day parade here in Phoenix, a small contingent of individuals (including myself) participated in the parade and marched to show solidarity with the Irish, the Latino, and the indigenous community, describing why racism on migrants should not be tolerated. This message was aimed at a majority white population who were the audience of the parade.
Re: St. Patricks Day
why's that? the english occupation in ireland is completely relevant to whats happening here in the states, especially in the hottest spot of immigration issues in the US, Phoenix Arizona.

I'd have thought it would have been better to highlight racism as a whole rather than to particular groups. To me it's basically like saying racism against one group is more acceptable than another. There's no sliding scale when it comes to racism, it's all fucked up.
That's just the way I read it anyway, not sure if others will.

Re: St. Patricks Day
no we oppose racism in every facet so that should clear that up.firky wrote:I'd have thought it would have been better to highlight racism as a whole rather than to particular groups. this land here is considered o'odham jew'ed or o'odham land. colonialists took it and killed many. we were making a correlation between irish struggle during that period of time with whats happening here today in arizona, upon the o'odham and many other indigenous tribes. we were appealing this ideal to a majority white audience who claim they have a enriched pride for their irish heritage, yet ignore the solidarity the defected irish had with the indigenous chocktaw people. the san patricio regiment whom defected to side with the mexican militias against american forces is one not to be ignored. also, colonialism is still a continuing issue and is affecting many within this state and south beyond the border, where the o'odham villages are. the militarization on the border which was a product of this long period of colonialism here has divided villages and land from families on mexico and america's border. many sacred sites like which happened recently in ireland in the tara plains with a highway being built over sacred land is happening here which was written within that flyer. in ireland's case the english are the colonialists.. again why is the english invasion of ireland not relevant?

Re: St. Patricks Day
I never said it wasn't relevant, I was merely commenting on your choice of words on the banner and in a couple of posts. Like I said, it reads to me that you especially oppose racism towards migrants, I knew this wouldn't be the case, it's just how it reads (to me).
To be perfectly honest with you, I can't really comment on the subject you're talking about a I know nothing about it so my opinion would be worthless. I only like to make strong opinions after digesting some info

Re: St. Patricks Day
Ireland's occupation has far more in common with Palestine than America, no? Or Balochistan by Pakistan?
