@Lightshapers - Really great! Sorry, but there isn't anything i can hear needs help. Nicely mixed!

@Manny - I thought maybe the end of the buildup could use some less typical kick placement... feels like it should be faster?

@Sifty - Great feeling song! I know its an ambient style track but i feel it could use a little more variation maybe.

Just recently started producing and could really use some help with this track. I just cant get the frequencies right and my computer is to slow to play the track in the sequencer view so i am forced to bounce out an audio file for each tweak and cant hear the changes as i make them... what a mess! So, I am having a nightmare with the sub bass on this and now it is making the rest of the song sound like crap. I do have some idea of gain structure but man is it messing with me today!

cheers for the listens all ;-)

@demzone - sounds a bit messy. instead of trying to cram lots of ideas into it try using less but make them sound as big as possible.

@Mannyyyyy - needs something else happening in the intro. nothing there to make me think 'oh shit its THAT tune'.horror movie speech sample or something like that. quite like your wobble but could do with some saturation/ditortion to make it bite.

@oprs

I'd bring up the drums a bit in the mix. Also, maybe high pass the drums that are not the standard kick and snare, the doo dads, if you know what I mean.

The synth that comes in at around 1:24 takes over a little bit, maybe that's the purpose, but I'd still probably tone it down somehow. Lower in the mix maybe?

The intro feels a bit long for some reason, maybe too little going on. I'd either short it down or throw in some more variations.

@‪edmumford‬

I like this one. The bass at 2:00 fills up the whole bottom, I would cut some frequencies here.

Also, to avoid the voice sample to come in so hard, I'd fade it in for just a tenth of a second or something like that to make it softer. Maybe pull back on the sample start and add some more attack.

@lightshapers

Well done.

Hello there, i'd like to have a bit of feedback on something. Been working on this last month ( pretty busy on march ), and i don't really know if i will finish this track or not.
So i'd like to have your fellings about the whole track, and almost on what i did ( or tried to do ) on the " mastering " ( large word for what i did )

Here's the "body " of the track, available to download to make it easier to judge

Thanks for listening and feedback and sorry for my crappy english ( not my main language. ).

Peace ! :)

First of all... HURRAH! My beloved WIP thread is back. This is the right way to do things! The thing is, when you have your tunes, there's a prejudice involved, and people can pick and choose what to feedback on (or to not at all more likely). This is the fairest way for everyone!

Anyway, feedback time.

Demzone: That intro is really interesting! Scary as fuck and nicely done. I think everything in your tune sounds rather jumbled production wise. First of all, the WHOLE mix is far too midrangey. Then your basses are sitting too high in the mix. get those drums more prominent and mixed so they're cleeeeaaaan :). Your synths and basses are actually really nice, they just sound like they're coming from an outside toilet, sorry, blunt but true. Having said that, creatively, this track is ace. Just get the production sorted and you've got a solid tune here man.

Oprs: That kick in the intro nearly blew my head off! Serious compression needed man, also I think there's a tad too much reverb on that kick too. The sample is nice, and I like how you foreshadowed the bass coming in. Sub is well nice. I always love a good sub. I think your snare lack real power. And that's because you've split it with sample delay? It's certainly either side in the mix anyway. For the best power delivery you want kicks, snares and basses down the middle. Apart from that I don't know what else you could improve really. I think maybe shorten that mid-section and make the main section longer!. Nice track man.

Coreygoesrawr: Aha what a jokes sample. Syncopated piano is always a winner on me so good job. Drums are treated really nicely, really choppy and punchy. Looking forward to the drop. AH, this is sick. Sub is lovelyyy. BUT, nooo you've used that talking wob that EVERYone uses. That is literally my only complaint here. The rest of the tune is really original. To be honest, I don't think you really need that talking wob, the sub does a good enough job with that high synth. Production is 100% though.

Ok, so here's one of a whole bunch of WIPs I have going on at the moment. I've gone for you're old school kinda in your face dubstep here.

Big up on the feedback in advance! :mrgreen:

My first post.. Hopefully the first track I actually master and finish. I tried using the "Gold" vocal sample with a track last summer but it didn't really work would be good to get an MC on board, the Skepta Acapella is just there for fun... Any feedback would be really appreciated am really happy to give tips and opinion to others,
Hit me up,

Cheers

@DreamThief
Wat.
Sorry, but that was pretty weird. I'm not sure what to say though. Perhaps try to make it a little easier to listen to? I dunno, maybe I'm not getting it, but it kinda sounded like something a bored 13 year old did in Garageband at school. I'm not trying to be mean, it is creative, just not very good. Sorry.

damn debaser that wip is nice. i love the synth sound man. ive been trying to nail that for months. that whoaaaaaaap sound. and damn you use it well. not really much to bitch about your stuff it notch man.

dream thief. you definatly have some creativity. you just need to make it more fluid. dont stick to trying to do one thing to many times. branch out. but i can see some artistic flare in it. keep trying

@dream thief.

this is a weird one, i think the melody is great but the beat is so weak and the synth sounds just arent working for me. work on those elemetns and get some nice delays/reverb in there with some more suitable synths and it could sound really great. but yeah, really needs a much harder hitting beat, espescially if you're gonna be using those grime vocals

not really the sort of track i've made before but i'm digging it a lot, its a much heavier remix of tempa t's next hype.

the acapella is poor quality, if anyone knows where i can get this acapella at a better quality i would greatly appreciate it thanks

@ Darj
Not really my cup of tea, but i can see what you are trying to do. the melody is really nice and so is automation, it defiantly needs a hell of a lot more low end, but nice work with the midrange !

@Debaser
(For your 2nd 2step track) really enjoyed this, i did find that the intro dragged a tiny bit, but then again it is a really nice build up to what happens next, the drums sounds crisp and the panning sounds real good too. the subtle wobble you add nearer the end of track really adds a lot to the track ! proper nice track, good work!

@Demzone
I enjoyed the really earie sounding intro, personally i think the midrange wobbles and the yui sound killed the track a little for me, but for that type of dubstep i spose it does work pretty well, good work though.

Anyway here is my track, its the first time i've really working on getting an alright sounding mixdown ! enjoy, thanks for listening :)

@Craggle : Thank you, i will add some more sub, you're right :p
And for your track, it sounds good ! Melody is fine, synths too, and your drums are nice but sometimes, i have the felling that your kick needs some more punch

@ Demzone : nice work, a bit too much reverb imo.

@Craggle cool intro and nice transition into the main line, maybe have a longer buildup though. cool song though good work.

@Debaser1 Sick song man love the basses and sounds, definitely right about the old school dub vibes, you nailed it though.

@demzone honestly the beginning sounded a little, random? idk it's a little noisy for my taste, pretty decent basses though but again a little busy, maybe cut some of the sounds out once the basses come in

here's just something me and a friend started up today, not exactly dubstep but we were trying to do something a little different. in the end hopefully we'll have a (female) friend of ours singing over the top of it as well.

The kind of vibe I am into atm Ramadanman, Joker, Dark SKy, Untold, Distance... these guys fucking awsome

Thanks for the tips, it's really helpful to take a step back and take on other peoples opinions... I'm getting the cheesy sense as well its a difficult chord change which is led by the main vocal sample. (kindof what I got stuck with last time I used this sample.)

hudson - No offense taken, thanks for being honest... I need a better beat after the intro.

oprs, ponte_ricky - Great advice!!

Haven't had time to listebn through the forum yet but will be on it after work...

@DreamThief I really dig the the opening rhythm really unique and don't worry about having a long intro. You might want to work on your sounds though some of them are a bit on the cheesy side.
@hudson awesome syth sounds + EP sounds = gold great job :)
@buddstep That vocal sample doesn't really match the tune it seems like it was just dropped in but other then that great work.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated :)

@Darj - Nice sounding bit there! I am a little unsure if i like the the vagueness of the hats and the hard panning. Other than that and the odd beat change up in the middle i loved it!

@Debaser1 - Loving the big room sound. It is what it is supposed to be.. good work!

Thanks for all the feedback on my WIP! I think i found the main culprit for some of my mix problems... a horribly overused compressor on the master was flattening the whole song and the sub was overpowered to compensate making a real mess!Also cut out the frequencies my kick and snare were using from most other sounds to give them more presence. Not sure if you guys wanna take another listen i think its cleaned up a bit! Wont bother re-posting and clutter up the thread... its up above, Thanks!

btw, everything i know came from the contributors of this forum... so thanks for giving me a great start! :Q:

@DreamThief - gold ; the intro percussion is fckn mad... really really love this! not a huge grime fan but the lyrics really top this tune off with a cherry. big up man

@Craggle - lost in trance ; this is a big track! loving the synth and the mixdown is nice n crispy. the atmosphere is really lush in your breakdowns. keep up the great work

urbannerd62- that track simplicity... very nice! this shit is crazy, trippin me out. ive got nothing bad to say about this track. it never gets boring! that track away at daybreak, the high hats are too loud. the 3rd track is fresh as fuck too, very nice work. im gonna stop here if you dont mind. great tunes man, seriously! respect!

terryfunk4life-woah man, there is some great tracks in here. this is tight man, i dunno about that static, give it some reverb maybe? fuck dude as im listening its just getting sicker. such a sick little melody. ahh, that kick at around 3 minutes is way too much. its sounds too dry. and the last little piece can go i say. but this shit is dope as fuck! ha

Krispies- im not really into the ravey stuff. the snare sounds crappy, it needs more snap or something. the second drop is kinda tight though.

check it!

@ponte_ricky -I searched this out for a mix a few months ago and hit a brick wall, there is a website where you pay for a months memebership (£10 or something) sounds like that's prob the vs you got. There is a good q vs out there as people are dropping it in their sets but no idea where to get it from....

Anyone else know

I'm really liking the elements in the track. All the sounds seem really resolved... I think it sounds right @ 1.27 but the beat with extra middle snare makes it feel a bit too breakbeat for me. v good!!
