Might just pick this up after work. The tutorial got me a little excited. I've been keen to try some new synthesis methods (rather than wavetable / subtractive), and this seems to be a really good blend of old techniques with new technology. I really like what I'm hearing as well.

Big ups NI.

Just got this and holy shit is it bangin. It does crazy ass dirt even better than massive, and is much more flexible in many ways. I will say that this will be the future sound of filth, and many other styles. Hot damn is that a good price for this synth!

this, spark, and prism have really renewed my faith in reaktor. it really is one of the best single pieces of software you can buy. so incredibly versatile.

Prism is by far, my fave ensemble, wanna try this Razor now since there is alot of positive reviews coming from the users, but don't wanna splash out without demo'ing it.

Snagged it last night. I figured I didn't own an additive synth yet, so what the heck, right?

It's very cool. But not at all what I expected. Their promo video and demo songs make it seem like it's basically Rusko-in-a-box, but that turns out to be a small part of the preset library, and the fact that it's good at filthy sounds almost seems like a side-effect of its synth architecture - like they designed it to do weird pads and gritty leads and oh yeah, that makes it suitable for what's hot in the clubs, too. Kind of hard to explain. Sort of reminds me of absynth, in a way - powerful, great for sound sculpting, and while capable of doing some killer "fundamental" sounds, not where it is strongest or at least not what I'd reach for first.

Given the minimal UI, it's a surprisingly deep synth. Tons of mod routings and unusual effects.

Probably won't be my "go to" synth for everyday leads and basses, but its flexibility and distinctive sound means I'll probably use it a lot when I need a specific or unusual sound.

It is capable of making stuff with tons of high end and/or grit, so if that's what you're looking for - really cutting, punch through the mix kinds of sounds, it'll likely excel at that.

Played around with it last night, and I'm pretty impressed! It's not as flexible as massive, but it can create some truly unique timbres that you won't find in any other synth. I think I'll be using this for leads more than basses. It won't replace Absynth for pads either.

It's hard to describe... but it sounds very Hi-Rez. That's because it's all made with sines, insead of stretched out audio. It sounds very crisp... almost electric sounding, but not too clinical. Even the effects and filters all work into the additive engine, rather than working with audio, which leaves everything very hi-fidelity before it gets converted to audio. The sound quality is what really won me over on this one.

One thing to keep in mind: the free Reaktor player won't let you save your own presets (which is bullshit). It will save any changed settings within the project you're working on, but you won't be able to save your patches into new banks to use in other projects.

So the verdict is that this is worth a shot?

Not used Reaktor before, presumeably Razor will be fully automatable?? By this I am asking can I automate wobble sync rate?? Think I'd die without it!!

Yeah, I knew it was a stupid question before I asked!! But I'd have been fucking pissed if I'd have shelled out on it and then found out I couldn't automate. Anybody know if the functionality is the same in the Free Reaktor player as in Reaktor 5.5?? (barring the fact that you can't save presets! =O)
