Yeah it just seems a little like too much clutter when they could assign the windows tabs or something of the sort.

I've got 5 windows always in a static position, the playlist, the piano roll, the mixer, the step sequencer, and the browser. I can see all of them, all the time, no f'ing tabbing or paging to see different windows, I see everything all at once. They stay in the same place, so I never have to hunt for them. For plugins and what not, I just leave em all up when I'm working on a particular piece of something, and just ESC them when done. You don't even need to mouse over and close the window. If your hand is properly in the claw position, over shift ctrl and alt (as almost every function in fruity is accessible with combinations of those keys and the three mouse buttons) you just jump up and hit ESC, and the window is gone. You can also save window layouts in fruity. And all of its windows are accessible with F keys.
If you don't like how fl's windows are managed, you have the power to make it how you want.
