Why release it digitally? No need whatsoever! To think I wasted my money and purchased a vinyl copy of this EP for a friend.

I love that DMZ is vinyl only, means i can't play it but keeps it special.

ALSO
SInce when was Anti-War Dub ever a digital release? I think it's that copying from vinyl making it into a 320 riff raff.
I've found "320s" of it online, but i'm pretty sure they aren't real 320s.

Anti/Haunted Vinyl wouldn't go for £150 if there was a digital copy floating around.
i think the 320 every1s on about is from mah's warrior dubz compilation

If a digital release devalues your vinyl then you are doing it wrong

Bleep were selling completely legit 320s of DMZ releases for a limited time a while back...
they were up for almost a couple years on bleep.com

i'm glad they were, and i wish they still were. it's what helped get me into dubstep.

and i still bought everyone one of the vinyl releases.

this shouldn't be an issue.

in fact we should all be buying the digital copy and getting some proper sounds into the top 10! ; )

digital is the future. the sheer sexiness of vinyl will never be replaced, but that's evolution for you... I'm sure that one day we all shall look on vinyl as we do cassette tapes: a past curiosity that we are now better off without, despite the nostalgic memories and 'better sound' ! Oh there will always be persistent purists, and thanks to them the magic of vinyl shall hopefully live on. personally i have now embraced the digital, despite having an enormous amount of records...

I'm pretty sure that's how it is in general now.

Wonder how many DJ's have been dropping this digitally for a while anyway? ;-)
I'd slap someone if I saw them doing that.

I ripped Shock It from the vinyl and played it out using Serato... don't assume everyone playing tunes digitally are all thieving bastards.

I have DMZs 1 to 11 as digital 320s all bought legitimately from bleep back in the day.

No-one died.
We've come on holiday by mistake.

You gotta look at the bigger picture here...

If anyone follows Mala on facebook you mightve recently seen him commenting about it being harder and harder to play dubplates at shows, and the following discussion about alot of venues not catering to vinyl anymore (the gear isnt up to scratch or they just plain dont have any).

We are talking about someone who dj's around the world, is known for playing vinyl & dubplate, promoters are informed well in advance and 2/3 shows are "problematic one way or another".

I mean if someone like Mala is having problems playing records out imagine the problems local dj's are having. Alot of the time you rock up somewhere and they dont even have turntables, or they might have one but no needles, not even a slipmat.

Its at the point where if you cant buy music digitally you have less opportunities to play it at shows. (or on radio)

Music is made to be heard.

I just feel more satisfied having a vinyl-only release, knowing you have one of the +- 1000 released. But ok I understand the point of view of digital dj's, just dwnload it (in maybe 5 min?) to your pc. For me it's all about choosing for hours the ones i really want because vinyl is obviously more expensive... and the moment when they get dropped in the mailbox and play them for out the first time, that's just pure bliss and always makes me feel good and more confident for playing vinyl only.

But hey that's just my opninion eh! ;)

rinseballs21 wrote:honestly i'm all for DMZ releasing digital, it would help them get more exposure here in the states, the main advantage rottun and circus etc have is they soley release digital and the whole "320" way is what all these teenagers are into (unfortunatley) they for the most part won't go out of their way to purchase vinyl. the US is in need of a DMZ cleansing seriously.
sorry for the necro but circus and rottun have released plenty of 12"s
you're not wrong, you're just an asshole

I think the hard and fast of it is that DMZ are known to be vinyl-exclusive (there have been exceptions and whether either mala or coki have officially said this I do not know) and if someone buys a product for a premium with the (false) knowledge that it will:

a) never be made available again (ie a single press)
b) not going to be made available in any other format in the future

..then fair play to them to be slightly annoyed given that there was no option to wait and pay a reduced price for essentially the same product (ignoring the physical side of vinyl here)

I for one couldn't care less, but it's a bit extreme to suggest that 'all us vinyl lovers' are 'sad sacks of shit' and wouldn't want Coki to gain more exposure and success.
