Re: Nero's Dubstep Symphony
This bored the shit out of me which is upsetting as the combo of classical and dubstep had a lot of potential, they should of done something more like:

Re: Nero's Dubstep Symphony
LOL, pretty terrible in truth. Classical "covers" of electronic music very rarely work. The Alarm Will Sound covers of Aphex Twin destroyed his works in most cases (though incidentally, the Philip Glass version of Icct Hedral is AWESOME) and I remember hearing a particularly lulzy collection of covers by Maxence Cyrin, which was the cheesiest, most horrendous thing i've ever heard. Goldies "Mother" is another one, though I actually kinda like that in places.
In short, unless the track is originally written to include strong string/orchestral elements like Jaguar or Unfinished Sympathy, then it's likely to be an audio abortion on a massive scale.

It was already posted in the General Dubs section but I reposted it here because I thought some of you production guys might be interested
Gives me goosebumps when I watch it, and they're not just playing brostep, they're playing DMZ, Burial, Joker...

That's the soundcloud for anyone who doesn't like watching the video but like it to load quickly
And to make it production-related, if anyone's watching the video, what programme are Nero using? You see it briefly
Yo did i miss burial and jokertunes?
Re: Nero's Dubstep Symphony
they should have (re)sampled the most known classical melodies in a uncreative and generic way and underlayed it with a kick on 1 and a horribly loud snare on the 3?truefiktion wrote:This bored the shit out of me which is upsetting as the combo of classical and dubstep had a lot of potential, they should of done something more like:

Re: Nero's Dubstep Symphony
Why bitch about it? Just take the fucking tune for what it is. 16bit - Classical it works, regardless of what you make of it from a production perspective. It's catchy and well produced, and its easy to catch the vibe on it, vibalicious, even if all they have done is take a classical sample, layered it with drums and some bass. Isn't that what alot of electronic music is? Synhthesizing, sampling and throwing your own flavours in? Fuck people need to ostop CONSTANTLY MOANING AND PICKING HOLES its FUCKING BORINGvulvavibration wrote:they should have (re)sampled the most known classical melodies in a uncreative and generic way and underlayed it with a kick on 1 and a horribly loud snare on the 3?truefiktion wrote:This bored the shit out of me which is upsetting as the combo of classical and dubstep had a lot of potential, they should of done something more like:

Re: Nero's Dubstep Symphony
Agreed, not saying the above tunes are fucking amazing or anything but I meant the dubstep symphony woulda been better if it were similar to that stated aboveSparxy wrote:Why bitch about it? Re: Nero's Dubstep Symphony
the mix on that soundcloud file is muddy imho, and the piece is just fucking boring. Probably exciting to hear live, in a concert hall, from the middle of the stage or something. imo, tho, the recording sucks, lots of instruments clashing in a mud pit of 500hz, not very wide for a stereo capture of orchestra, mad instruments sound very centered almost on top of one another (horns, violins, cello), and synth just cluttering things further. where is the spread and dynamics =\

Re: Nero's Dubstep Symphony
It's like they used a boom mic to record alot of it. No direct feed. Would also explain why there was a distinct lack of bass
Re: Nero's Dubstep Symphony
That non drop at the innocence part really let me down on the first listen. I think I expected more of accompaniment like when magnetic man performed with a quartet. But instead it almost comes off as an original piece of classical electronic music. As I couldn't make out none of the melodies save of the obvious sample bits. Once I got over that I think I like the piece, but I still have to give it a few more listens.
