I think you'll find it's all about the walrus.

i like the squids. seems very suitable. I was saying the other night...dubstep is as dark as DNB, but not nearly as mean. deep sea creatures and things living under the earth. scary but not evil by nature. hehe.
yeah, really suitable. my mum always sez to me- why are you playing that underwater music all the time?

i think the appeal of dubstep - an "underground" muscial genre (for want of a better term) - is that it doesn't yet have an image. i find it interesting that humans, by their very nature, tend to try and define or categorise concepts in order to make sense of them.

it may be very different for y'all over there in the UK, but i know that way over here in NZ, where dubstep is starting to build a real following but the sound is still rarely found in a club environment, there is a distinct absence of any dubstep "image". when mala played here a couple of months ago, i remember looking around at one point in the night and consciously realising i hadn't seen most of the people around me before. (an uncommon and significant occurrence in a city like welli.)

that's the beauty of undergound musik movements. they can't be defined. they develop organically and image is the last thing on the agenda.
i'm takin this show on the road.
