pan realy creates a nice atmosphere i must say!
order - i think it still is realy nothing. if this single gets much sells that's due to the name james blake.
altough i have to admit i think it's realy great that he takes one step back, releasing these two instrumental, realy undergroundish tunes after the huge sucess he's made with his album.
thumbs up for that move!

yeah thumbs up for having the balls to still release underground music and do his own thing after a commercial succes. Also big up to Hemlock for consitently putting out interesting music with a clear cut "trademark" style that we've come to associate with them.

That being said, I liked James Blake releases not just because of their interestingness or uniqueness, but also for their subtle melodic qualities as found on some of the R&S or earlier releases. Be it through shaping vocals or crafty and clever work with synths and samples.

In that aspect, these tracks are rather "dry" and straight forward for me. Interesting nonetheless though.

"There is a lot of tension in the music that carries a satisfactory darkness with it, but it's also lazy music. You don't have to dance hard to move with it. It was born with a reefer in it's gob."

You know, I do claim myself a James Blake fan, but he has let me down with a track like "Order". SOOO BOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIINNNNNGGGGGG! In fact... it SUCKS! Is this really a completed track? To me it sounds like there's a crapload of sounds missing.

Pan was really nice though. But this isn't James' best work to date. At least it's good to know that he's still doing instrumental productions.

I do suppose "Order" can come handy as a dj tool. That beat really is phat afterall.

Order is just a poor track really, the sounds are nice but the track just doesn't progress at all.
Pan on the other hand is absolutely massive I rekon, it is so dark, really builds in a similar way to a decent mala track I think, loads of energy too. He has got it spot on there really. Fair do's to him putting these tracks out after the album, wasn't expecting it what so ever.

I really like these tunes. I was so happy to hear he was getting back to the real instrumental ting after his vocal based album. This is the start of many more lovely tracks. I like how this boy never does the same sound over. Each ep is unique and delicious. Big ups blake
