the only time i use something i dont make is sweeps and random small sound, and a lot of times I may effect the crap out of it anyway....its not a big deal, exspecially if the pack is sold. i would never do this with a synth or anything main in my track though or the drums or snares. of coarse i use drum and snare samples, but im a stacker, and i usually EQ and effect every sample i use from a pack so....if it works, why not use it.

It's those who just sit behind their freakin' ATARI ST and complain about brostepper's that will never amount to nothing. Let him have his ego for a while and he will bounce back to earth after time, nothing bad comes out of a good ego :)
Haha well put! I mean no disrespect, the kid DOES have skill.
I'm just playing the pacifist here

well im not going to get too much into explaining this as its gotten me into trouble in the past, but lets just say i have some very talented friends, and they have sample libraries that would make the biggest hard drive have a heart attack, and they use the crap out of them, changed or not changed. sampling is part of this world, theres people that make money off of sampling and selling them....just as much as you make money using them (if you arent all but hurt about using samples, which most arent). that is the game and there is nothing against it. if your dont like to do so, thats your choice and i actually respect you for it, but i hold nothing against people that use them either.....if it provides a good result then why not.

this is like the CDJ vs Vinyl VS midi pad argument really.... end result, all that matters.

Its not cheating if your music has 1) depth 2) good production 3) groove.

Look at golden era hiphop 90% of that is all sampled and its timeless music.

Heres the most important lesson to learn.

JUST.WRITE.MUSIC

It doesn't matter if its at a level where it'll sell millions of units if you
like it.

Thats no right and no wrong.

Ive been writing music for about 7 years and I can count the amount of synth patches ive made on hands.
I think you mis interpreted my post there man. My point was if youve used a sample and if your not happy with it because of this then its only yourself you need to justify it to. I dont care and 99% of listeners dont give one if you use samples because its the end result that is important. Sampling is a fucking art with numerous books dedicated to it so anyone that dismisses it outright is probably unaware of its usefulness. Personally I do feel the same as OP in regard to sampling main elements eg leads, bass purely because I see it as a misinterpretation of my own abilities. But yeah I dont believe sampling is cheating at all.
