He didn't imply anything like that, all he said was English. You're the one who tried suggesting he was only talking about 'proper English people' as you put it.

He's right, you're just twisting what he says for sake of argument
really?

I hate this shit. People jump down people's throat calling them a racist for discussing anything like this.

Cleese is perfectly allowed to discuss that opinion. It's not racist, it's not ignorant, it's an accurate observation. Walking through London doesn't feel like the capital of Britain, it doesn't. Not in a "deport all these immagrants" way, more in a "where is all the Englishness gone?" way.

Yeah but the question you could ask yourself 'what's so inherently good and important about conserving traditional, non-multicultural 'Englishness'?

Seems like the dude doesn't really like where Britain is heading and he does seem to blame it on the immigrants.

I don't think anyone is calling him a wide-eyed, foaming-mouth Klansman. Just a bit of an old turd who holds an unnecessarily high degree of importance to traditional, non-multicultural Britain.

its a good point. i've no actul english blood in me yet i've lived here my whole life and consider myself to be english, both my housemates are the same one is of indian decent and the other is half czech and half singaporean, yet we are all english at heart.

this "proper" english people shit that fools like the EDL go on about is ridiculous, do they think their ancestors are english? its not about what your blood is, its a state of mind thing.

best way to tell if someones truly english, watch what they do when they're waiting for a bus. if they queue in an orderly fashion 5 minutes before it's there, english.

that's exactly what you are doing, I have taken nothing out of context at all, I directly quoted a guy and asked what he meant by it

I asked a question to help clarify the meaning

you seem overly defensive

i seriously doubt cleese is racist, palin has travelled the world investigating other cultures and hes part of that fold too

id be lying if i said i when on oxford street i dont sometimes feel like a foreigner given the sheer lack of english accents..would that make me racist? no

i do think maybe it came out wrong when he said he couldnt 'see' any english people

He used his American friend's comment as an example, sort of to back up what he's saying.
