Re: The track that got you into dubstep?
In ONE week in 2008 I had heard:
Anti War Dub - DMZ
Japan - Plastician
Girl from Coedine City - L-Wiz
Cockney Thug - Rusko
From that point I was hooked... Went backwards, forwards and sideways to find ANYTHING
labelled "Dubstep."
Found that I like the minimalist sub-bass stuff (Anti War Dub for example) than the jump
up (Cockney Thug) stuff and then decided to find as much as I could to match what I liked.
More L-Wiz, N-Type, Burial, DMZ, Plastician, Benga, Skream & Clouds please...
Would say one of my favourite songs in any genre is Summer Dreams by Skream.

Think 'Diary of an Afro Warrior' was the first stuff I heard.

Vex'd - Angels or Burial - Wounder.
Still listen to Vex'd too much, tbh. I still love the first Burial, but don't listen to it as much as the second anymore... which is odd because I was convinced it was better at the time.

I think it was both "TC - Where's My Money (Caspa Remix)", and this one:

First track from the kode9&spaceape album. I read a review in the paper (lol) saying it was fresh and new so I went out and borrowed it from the library. Like heroin, it got me hooked instantly. I went out and got Skream! and dubstep allstars 4 and the mary-anne hobbes Dubstep warz show (Haunted!).

My english teacher gave me a weird look when I mentioned that as the musical instrument I played. Like the wtf stare. I had to give her the 'wiki wiki' dj motion to confirm what i meant.
Re: The track that got you into dubstep?
initially i wasn't into dubstep, more of a house/techno person myself
ricardo villalobos dropping midnight request line probably did it for me
also burial's archangel (as cliche as both sound) got me hooked.

Are you serious? That track made it for me. The production involved in that bass is phenomenalmIrReN wrote:Distance;

And how will you inquire into a thing when you are wholly ignorant of what it is? Even if you happen to bump right into it, how will you know it is the thing you didn't know?

Caspa's Essential Mix got me into dubstep, but specifically these tracks (which were in the mix):

Heard Rusko-Mr. Muscle at a mates house then went home and googled dubstep. Having no prior knowledge of different artists I downloaded 9 Samurai. Never looked back.
