He worked hard, earned some money and spent it how he wanted. Good for him.
This.

FFS DSF. Grow up.

I can`t believe all the hate.
He has a cool setup and I liked seeing it.
I want to find his house and force him to move out leaving it all to me.
But still, no hate.

To be honest I`d also want to show of the things I have if I had them.
We're all gear junkies here.

ok playin devils advocate whatever, i am admittedly jealous and commented earlier to vent bitterness HOWEVER

wat is the point of having 3 mpc's an sp404 and native instruments maschine? they all do the same thing pretty much...?

sell the toys, get the UAD neve package and some sick monitors and some acoustic treatment. learning to use these tools (and your ears) will help get ur production to higher levels much more than the gadgets man...

its the fucking production forum. maybe he thought by posting it would start an interesting discussion of different methods of writing tunes/pros and cons of various bits of kit before people buy them, etc.

Jeez.

Better than

"My massive database has crashed again and i cant sync teh wobblez" for the millionth time.

this place sometimes.

Nice setup
Makes me sad when I see nice gear (1210s, MPC) let down by shitty gear though (DJM, KRK)

Doubt he posted that to start a discussion of what kind of tracks you could make with gear he has laying around lol, but I suppose you are right.

So tell me some cons about having 3 phones laying on the keyboard, kind of stops you from actually playing the virus don't it? :cornlol:

Just playing, this shit is pointless.

On an actual serious note, you got me thinking, I have been drooling/dreaming about getting a virus (is that the polar special edition?) for months but is spending this amount of money seriously worth it? I am not sure, I am talking about spending half my savings (that would be for if my fridge or something broke down) on a synth, I just don't know..

They would rather just see someone with a cheap computer and Massive, maybe some monitors.

It's not the tools, it's what you do with it blah blah. Still, I prefer the hardware. I'm glad I kept all of my old analogue synths.

IMC(ontroversial)O
You're totally right.

It makes no difference whether you have a Virus or a Software Synth, if you're not a very good producer, then that's just the way it is. Whether you develop your knowledge and skillset on a soft synth or hardware it makes no difference. It just comes down to what the person prefers.

I'm willing to bet the first bits of gear you purchased you still use today, and probably will for life. Whereas software goes out of date, the synths will be around forever (so long as their kept in good condition and serviced).

Btw. Do you have images of your setup would love to see.
Yes, I still have the first synths that I bought in the mid '90's. A Roland Juno-106 and a Roland MKS-70 which is the pic you see in my avatar.

You can see my last studio setup in the "post the pics of your studio" thread around page 54ish. I have just recently moved, so my studio looks different now.

EZ
Yeah, well im a knob, sold my sh101, juno2, korg 61m when i decided computers are amazing...

:corntard:
Well, you were not alone. Some of my friends did the same thing in late '90's - early '00's when they thought they were going to go all software. They ended up regretting it a couple of years later.

Go with the older Roland stuff :W: mc303's, Juno's, TR606's and the likes, affordable, reliable and character.
