Why are you guys even comparing Girl Unit with these producers from the states. Clearly Girl Unit took inspiration from some of those producers that have been doing hyper hihats/big 808 boom productions for ages, and he did something else with it, something more relevant for the UK bass scene.

It isnt meant to be compared like "oh yeah he made a weak version of some lex luger beat", he just put his own twist on that style. Plus, the US guys have exactly that issue, a tonne of wack rappers on top so the beats never get a chance to breathe.

"Wut" was successful in the way that it captured essentially a similar kind of energy to what some of US guys are doing and presented it to the UK dance/bass scene...I highly doubt Girl Unit thinks he invented that sound, and he isnt the only one, taking that sound and presenting in/to a different way/crowds.

They do their thing over there, he does his thing over there.
