Dont get me wrong a love reason from day, but there is numerous improvements that proppellerhead could make to this piece of software. The vst support would be well handy tho. I use reason 3, and that alone kills off my CPU when I only use 2 combinators in a track, I dont even wanna think what reason 4 would doing to my computer, properly explode or sumfing.
Strange. I can have about 20 synths and 20 samplers and 2 redrums going on in Reason4 and I never get any lag at all.
I have recently started playing with FL8 and it actually kills my PC and I get audio stutters if I have 4 Albinos and 2 other VSTs going at the same time :/
I have to bounce audio down and put them in the sampler and this makes things very limited.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

Reason can seem to be using a lot of CPU (at least on my system) for what I get out of it because it has no multi-core support. I have no idea if FL has or not, but 4 instances of Albino seems ambitious as the thing is a hog.
I should just say that I run a core 2 duo @ 1.73 GHz, not really the fastest cpu around here

As to what others have said about RAM, it has never really been an issue for me. 3GB, even with a lot of samples in RAM has always been enough.

Yeh FL8 still has not helped me with the audio crackle:(
I have also checked the audio buffer thing in the audio properties but it only helps for a few mins then starts again, wierd.

i got the pro tools 8 upgrade last month. if you are already familiar with pro tools, you'll be used to the new setup within an hour or two of fuckin with it. in my opinion, they did an excellent job of upgrading it, with a much needed better midi editor, elastic time (included in the 7.4), score editor, and alot of free plugins that are really useful. the new xpand is big, you could write a whole album using just xpand. well worth my money.
pro tools 8 + ableton + reason + samples = will i ever leave my house?

Fuck me... I had the unfortunate experience of using R4 on a Mac this weekend................
I'll just slit my wrists now....
I fucking hate both.
I'll cheer up now
