If you are only into the whole music thing purely to seek fame and money then you might as well just give up, the ones who do make it are the lucky guys who put in a lot of time and effort into what they do and don't expect to get anywhere with it,they just do it because they love it. Take it one step at a time and realise that it could take a very long time before you get noticed, it all depends on how hard you are going to push yourself and how much you are going to work to get you to where you want to be.
That's just what I tell myself though..

Like someone else said, if you really don't care about the music you are making you could just start copying the mainstream sound and sell yourself to a big record label :|

ur basically having to set up a brand of ur sound to sell to the world and thats assuming the world wants it, that takes time man- time to set upa fan base, time to build bridges with other like-minded artists etc etc, it has to be a long term goal, and it doesnt get any easier once ur signed, there is always promotion of some sort to do, keeping the quality of ur tracks innovative, unique but different, is tough but it is apart of the process that seperates the men from the boys.

True artists will stick with it whilst others fall by the wayside.
