I've created dungeon sounds in Ableton's stock plugins, Massive, on my Virus TI, Sylenth1 (awesome for warm sounds), amongst others. Learn how to create sounds ;)
How do make dungeon sounds mate? How do you make every tool versatile for you?

so apart from 'reese and fuck with it' anyone got any tips? i haven't been trying to achieve that dungeon sound with a reese yet so this could be interesting.

generally im running Logic and use mainly Logic plugins (Es2 etc) and Massive for the occasional bits.

District wrote a deep tut on just this a while back.
He uses Massive but the fundamental ideas can be carried over to many synths.
It's all about Filter movement.

i didn't find that particularly helpful :/ His massive is either older or newer than mine cos i dont have certain things he does ('VA-PWM' and 'Pulse Width' on my OSCs. It seems there is no one who uses logic for this side of dubstep, starting blocks of a patch is all i want really.
Im not a noob, so sorry if i sound slightly moronic hah!

How can you not apply those hints to your own synths?
Take a look at the waveforms and find a similar waveform.
Or update your version of massive.

Edit - Like District said, it's all about filter movement which for the most part in that tut is done outside of Massive with Short Circuit.

lol, Biome.

Producer mate of mine found the bass sample Biome used for Propaganda. No FX (other that reverb) were added. And here I was thinking Biome created everything in his tunes...

Don't get me wrong, love Biome's work, but my respect for him as a talented producer went down a little when I heard that.
why??

Did you like the tune before you knew the sample was not his?
In the end it`s the result that matters.

Yeah who gives a fuck where the sound came from if the tunes good it's good. I don't personally use presets but who cares if he uses it, that comment sounds so snotty!

Practise. Once you know how to make sounds, you can use any synth and learn it's intricate characteristics.

For some reason I think Pinch just uses FL's 3xOSC. This basically means any old synth can do it if you run enough instances.

What I did recently was crank some Pure Data (or another modular language). Just set up some sine waves to play different frequencies/amplitudes to get some non-traditional overtones. If you really want I can upload a patch.

Try running your sub bass (prefarably one that has harmonics) through some distorion, then lowpass.

lol it all has nothing to do with what you use
It's all about phrasing and sound design
I think the best dungeon-like sounds are made with a few instances of a similar patch, with careful phrasing
Aso automating attack and decay of a filter envelope to get multiple articulations out of one timbre.

Not a single listener is going to give a fuck whether or not you did it in logic
