I am a bit confused. At the drop there seems to be two synths... or what not. The lower reese type bass and this almost vocal sounding one in the background. Not sure which one people were going for. I tried both... kind of failed, so I globbed it into one. That song is sweeet.

I read somewhere (possibly DOA) that chasing shadows used Reason for this remix and in particular used the amp/cabinet sims to create the distortion for the bass sounds.

I read this thread and messed around with flangers on some of my reeses and got this. Its a progression of adding effects, so the full thing starts when the drums hit.

Lol I mixed it the best that I could on my krks, but I really suck at mixing everything together properly. The main reason I post this is looking for advice on how to mix these kind of sounds better.

Shit. I'll try to post a tut within the next week. anybody know of a free cam site that's not so cpu intense? I tried doing a video a while back for that but my speakers wouldn't stop clicking cuz the cam was taking up too much cpu.

Well because it was a few step process starting in reason, then resampled into kontakt, and then resampled gain with more effects. I could take screen shots but there would be a lot of them. How can I link screenshots to here?

In regards to the track bloodlust from killsonik, which the midrange sounds like a variation of their chasing shadows remix of pacifica, I find that when using massive, i use the ring modulator up 24 semitones, then in the eq panel i crank the high shelf up, then on the insert i use sine shaper about 50% wet and the amount is like 80% to get it real grimy. Cant remember which waveforms to use though. I'm not at home right now.

This track's midrange is kind of in a similar vein to the midrange i'm describing.

@ mthrnk: Great example of the song. Sounds like the filtering could be a bit more open to get the higher bits of the reese to come through. Regardless, I find it funny that PatrickReza created another "HOW TO MAKE [certain bass]" thread and it's now 3 pages long. Yea, I'm validating it by posting, but honestly...There is some great shit on reese's and resampling them in "THE REESE BASS THREAD"....and I'm sorry but that over distorted reese chasing shadows makes is not that hard. There are some great examples of some weighty reese's posted in that thread...Some of which I posted myself. You too lazy to go through it? ffs man...

Reese creation tip: Pay massive attention to the phasing that occurs from detuning, unison, and phaser/flanger combos. It's important to keep in mind how the sound is changing in different areas of the freq spectrum. Sorry to say, but that 250-500hz area is a bitch to get under control after several resamples...but again, practice practice practice :)
