Surely your value as a DJ increases as you receive more dubplates - I don't think that people would be so keen to book/see Youngsta if he was just going to spin that week's latest releases - so why would you leak something that is actually, to look at it bluntly, strengthening your own personal position?
Baffles me. Honestly can't see a valid reason for doing it, unless you just straight up don't care you've been sent some unreleased tunes and placed in a position of trust.
That's the thing though, it doesn't even have to be about respecting the other person's trust because surely your selfish reasons for holding the dub for yourself outweigh the selfish reasoning behind betraying their trust.
I guess.

Just some strange folk out there I guess. Must think they'll get some cred for giving out this unreleased tune.

Anyone know of an interview with a dubstep producer who rarely gives interviews and was talking about tunes being leaked, mainly pointing out he didnt want sub-par mixs of tunes out there.. Came out within the last 3 months..Sorry I cant be anymore specific.
Thanks.

Leaking an unreleased tune that you get sent by a producer/label who trusts you is fucking low. I'm assuming it's bloggers or whatever, people that don't really play out etc that leak.
Don't really care what people do at home, download as much as you want imo, but don't play out leaked tunes or anything you didn't pay for. Don't ask for money if you're only gonna trainwreck some tunes you obtained illegally. Not gonna name any names, but I've seen some people who get a bit of hype now asking for shit to play out... low.

Yeah, obviously didn't mean you :w: Just because I said bloggers doesn't mean I was referring to every single one out there lol. I said bloggers because it's not too hard to get on some promo lists in exchange of a few posts or reviews etc, specially from smaller labels. I guess people who have access to promos but don't gain or lose much, in general. (Djs, at least the serious ones, have a lot to lose if they leak dubs imo.) Of course, it depends on other factors too. Wouldn't say running a "legit blog" is necessarily one of them though.

Ha it's all good man: wasn't actually confused by the first bit, it was more the bit about trainwrecking unreleased tunes that I didn't get. Have re-read it now though and have the gist I reckon.

I'd always thought the whole thing about seeing people playing out and playing dubs they shouldn't have/YouTube rips was a bit of a myth, but having actually witnessed it I am pretty astounded.

hmm
Don't lose interest after a day, get it out and about !
Yeah come on, no need to throw your toys out the pram because you didn't get enough hits on day 1.
If we were only in it for the numbers, NONE of the Dubliminal crew would be making, sharing or releasing music at all.

I could post up a .zip of 25 unreleased Cessman tunes tomorrow on Facebook and guarantee it'd get fewer comments than if I put up a stupid status like "My god, aren't black people lazy these days!"
That's life. I was actually gonna check your mix, the TL looked interesting, but I guess it's too late now
We wanted to DL Jon, pop it back up if you have time sir.

This. Also it's pretty depressing to know that someone you trust has just completely been a cnut and blatantly given out it out to people.
I hope i'm not one of the shit people you're referring to, but I have noticed alot of people's stuff being leaked lately. I haven't noticed that many "shit" producers moaning about it though. But to me it might indicate there is someone in common with alot of these people who is the cnut.

I think alot of it comes down to forum/online 'kudos'. They think other people online will think they're cool for sharing it on a dodgy forum or a torrent site. And yes, unfortunately, there are people that sad out there. Or people trying to get more followers on their social media / blogs.
