So what I got from that interview is that Skream and Benga don't want us to associate them with the deeper stuff they used to put out. Is that correct?

Whatever the case is they both put out some magnificent stuff I will continue to listen to in the future.

Not really, just that the arguments going on on their facebook pages everyday must be winding them up saying your shit isnt dubstep blahblahblah..theyre basically just anouncing that they will make what they want without labeling themselves

Just the term then? Thats so fucked up. The word dubstep is too cool and people love saying it. If it was a gay word like techno we wouldn't be having this problem.

Can't think of a legit reason why people are obsessing over this genre. Haven't really seen it happen to this extent anywhere else.

wtf is wrong with me saying lol pete :( :(((

In what way does Laughing out Loud belittle what Benga has done lol pls check my post history and check how many tunes of him Ive posted :W: just think it's funny he's saying he'll leave dubstep be overall whilst being part of MM... Which is a dubstep megasupagroup (no disrespect before you try to put words in my mouth), unless theyve recently switched, tbh I don't follow them anylonger I like the bug and other tunes which names don't come to mind (as they never do with me). Haven't followed much of Benga either so really idgaf (not to come across harsh I just don't), if I hear from him again, good! will listen! If it's not to my likings idgaf, maybe his next output will be.

Peace out

don't take everything so bad
smoke a spliffy

and enjoy the other output

I've not felt much of his stuff since 26 Basslines but the guys a trooper. I supported him at a shitty gig in Newquay a few years ago and his enthusiasm & charisma was infectious. You can't diss a guy that genuine really. People will discover Benga's output in years to come and will continue to be inspired by his early shit. I didn't know about Wookie until last year but that doesn't make his early output any less amazing or inspiring to me.

Not been feeling most of Benga's newer tunes (apart from Katy On A Mission which I actually liked, dunno if it still counts as new though two years old now lol), but Benga was one of the artists whose music got me into dubstep in the first place, that he's created tunes like World War 7, Night, 26 Basslines, E Trips and Zombie Jig means he still gets my respect even if he's moved off in a different direction to me in recent times. It would be cool if he still released a few more old school sounding tunes like Skream did with Phatty Drummer and Gritty, but you can't have everything I suppose.

even if it is a joke, good luck to him in whatever he does

when i got into dubstep benga was the source of so many great tunes/riddims... even if he has also produced a few I don't care about I am thankful for all he has given us. big up and bless

it's sad how quickly people turn on artists when they go a direction they don't like

short memories? Who knows....

just curious, loefah stopped making dubstep, why isn't anyone hating on him?

not sugggesting that they should  it's just a bit odd. Is it because benga's sound has become more mainstream recently?

There have been a couple of decent Benga bits over the past few years but he never seems to release them!
