really suprised when a mate told me about it, I knew they were old dnb heads but didn't know they were on the 140 before it was cool lol

I definitely remember hearing one of their tunes on an old HD4000 podcast that made me . If I heard it today I probably wouldn't be as impressed, but back then I was definitely loving it.

I assumed nero started dubstep in about 2010.

nero came into dubstep late 07/early 08 with that tearout sound which was actually kinda hype back then.

chase and status were always dnb but when they were first releasing stuff on bingo/renegade (2004/05) they were also doing 140/grimey bits like this,

yeah but it was sick at least. as opposed to the shit c&s and nero pumped out. eastern jam was sort of alright at the time before it got absolutely abused and rinsed to death, but it cant even get close to this:
