Re: so how the **** has zomboy done it?
I don't give a fuck what he "says"... if you have used Massive and FM8 for any decent length of time you can start to tell when a sound has been made in the synth (pretty much goes for a lot of synths - there's characteristics you can pick up on). I wouldn't put FM8 past him on some of his newer tracks but it certainly still sounds like he uses Massive a lot, especially for a lot of midrange/lead sounds.tantly
It wouldn't surprise me if he didn't even use FM8 and was only saying he did to try and justify the sounds he's blatantly sampled from Skrillex tracks.

Just pointing out that to me a lot of his sounds sound more similar to those that you can create out of Massive vs. those from FM8, and I'm talking from personal experience of trying to synthesise similar sounds in both synths. Especially his screechy/squeely leads, they just scream "formant wavetables in Massive". As for his actual basses/midrange in his newer tracks it does sound more like a combo of FM8 and Massive, but in his older tracks it sounded more like a mashup of Skrillex samples and Massive lol.

Yeah because since you decided Skrillex is lame now, everyone else should too?

Re: so how the **** has zomboy done it?
Pretty much yeh
Re: so how the **** has zomboy done it?
Zomboy still has such a distinguished sound, thats why.
Something about his tunes, it's something going on in the background that makes everything sound fleeting and full, yet his synths are very small overall.
You can hear this especially in his first EP, this very distinct background noise that makes his stuff stand out like it's flying past you and makes his synths flow together more seamlessly even though a lot of sounds sound as if they're slapped right next to eachother, really hard to explain for me haha, it's like a combination of high end percussion, noise and maybe arps/leads... (This is prominent in Game Time, Organ Donor, His pressure mix and ESPECIALLY his Still Getting It Remix)
Also he's great drummer, and all his drums are usually pretty creative pattern-wise.

i'm only joking around, i actually agree with you for the most part. the leads are massive saws 24 and -24 apart almost exclusively. the growl basses sound very fm8 to me though, if i was trying to recreate one i wouldn't use massive for it.mthrfnk wrote: Just pointing out that to me a lot of his sounds sound more similar to those that you can create out of Massive vs. those from FM8, and I'm talking from personal experience of trying to synthesise similar sounds in both synths. i remember falcon 6 was just a chop up of skrillex stuff but to be fair, when he made all that shit i doubt he expected to take off with the next couple of songs he put out. i mean, game time is largely vengeance special sounds! but you can hear him progressing, his mixes are clean cut now and he's innovating on his own style so people not liking his music i can understand, it's not for everyone....but people giving him shit for production? it sounds to me like he's put the time in and i'll never disrespect anyone that's gotten success out of something they've put effort into.

Thats the funny thing. I would.

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA good jokes. Wait this is jokes, right?Sinergy wrote:Zomboy still has such a distinguished sound, thats why.

His music is the epitome of pop in the "dubstep" niche.
The whole idea behind his music is to rinse out a sound that became vastly popular so he can make money/get views/profit. It's obviously not about being an original artist, or he would have made his style and bass lines more unique.
Me just don't understand...
Would you rather be recognized as having influenced other artists because of your distinction, or would you rather be recognized as a mime?
I guess people do get gigs as Michael Jackson impersonators, though... go figure.
