Burning Man has fuck-all to do with saving the earth. In fact, the amount of trash that is generated by burners each year is probably a statement for the opposite.

If you go with the attitude that you're going to run into nothing but shitty people, that's probably the perception that you'll be stuck with. Would you really let a handful of pompous hippies keep you from enjoying a cultural melting pot full of incredible art and music? I just don't understand the resentment that people who have never been seem to have for it. "I've never been, but it seems like a bunch of granola-eating, tree-hugging, earth-worshipping acid casualties." :x

badger wrote: yeah my ex went last year and thought it was the best thing ever, and im sure it was really good but she did go a bit over the top about. she talked about pretty much nothing else for ages when she got back and it was like she had some sort of post-burning man depression when she got back cos nothing could ever compare to burning man. shes absolutely gutted that she cant go this year and thinks that the week its on shes going to be really depressed knowing whats going on there
thats how i was with starscape this past year. different fest, but i was pissed cause everything i did that following month i compared to starscape. and nothing even came close. cant wait for next yr.

The crews here in town that go, among others that I know, are VERY affluent eccentric types. I dunno,..prolly trust fund kids and the like. Like a bunch of grown theater geek types that would see you and I like regular joes and hoodlums. So yeah, a lot of their additutes are fucked to begin with. These cats that live downtown have their own 3 million dollar building (not exaggerating) That they use as a year long base to prepare and make big sculptures and ting. I guess I can't complain much because the parties they have there are solid and after this year I'm sure they will have me playing for them more often. "Oh my god Aaron,....we heard your music all over burning man and we're gonna have you DJ every weekend now".... Assholes.

yea i would love to go, my friends, yes, the ones that have been, they all are kind of coooler than thou types to begin with and so it is. but seems like a mirror or blank slate kind of thing, you go into it with certain expectations or attitudes and thats what you will get back.

Iam curious about this Symbiosis Gathering, cause Mala is playing there! Anyone know what thats all about?????....from the looks of the web site its more hippy than BM! lol

yeah, a large majority of em are late 20 - early 40 somethings.

you've gotta have a good $1000 to have a decent time at burning man, from what my friend who goes told me. what with tickets, food, water, drugs, and a place to stay and all that...

Yeah I tried to book Glitch Mob that same night for my party and they are playing that thing as well. They are just basically mini Burning Man type festivals..there was one here in SB about two months ago. It lasted 3 days, pretty cool...I guess.

I drive all the way from Indiana and including the price of gas, have never spent $1000.

TITA I haven't bothered to read anything else bar 1st post that's been written on this thread: I just thought I'd say I went Burning Man in 2002 and had a reet good time, don't go with any preconceptions, don't forget it's just a festival, and get involved in stuff that seems interesting.

No one spends ages bugging out about what Glastos gonna be like, they just go.

So what if there's 40 people writhing around naked in a pile you don't have to.

If people are uppty having been, fuck em.
