the " choices " for nominations are driven entirely by the forms people submit. every year people pull their hair out over being excluded, their favorite ________ excluded, not having enough choices etc. Every year!

trying to think back to my votes last year and such a huge change in direction of taste and style since this time last year. Gone from east to west. Discovered and experienced lot more music over 2012

I was thinking the opposite. The awards look a lot more stream lined in terms of "the sound", but It does feel a little less musically diverse as it has done in the past and really highlights how few labels there are. But in saying that, it is reminiscent of the early scene when not much musi was available so we can only hope this is a good thing and we will soon see more labels popping up releasing a wider range of dubstep music as it were.

Now I'm going to go an cry in my cornflakes because Mala got voted best producer and I never.

edit: I'm talking about physical record labels.
This is pretty spot on; its kinda like the grammys at this point. Essential, but not really reflective on the genre as a whole. After a couple years I figure it'll even out though.

It's pretty sad seeing so many good tunes come out on digital only labels. Just don't have the money to start cutting. :(

Just wanna say a major big up to anybody that nominated Night Tracks, and to those that vote for us. Even if we come absolute last, it's still an honour to be considered amongst the other website up for voting.

Unlike some of the other sites, we're just doing it in our spare time, we don't run ads, we're getting no profit, but I like to think we dig deep, get some great interviews, mixes and free tunes for you, and present it well too, so it's nice to get some recognition like this. Some of you might think the awards are stupid, but we're pretty hyped to be nominated.

It'd be great if we won, but if not, I'd really like to see one of the "smaller" sites win(I say that not to be offensive, we're probably by far the smallest site on there), the people that are putting in effort for absolutely no reason other than the joy of sharing tunes.

Plus we were born from this very forum, so if you're reading this and not voting for us, you're basically stealing from dubstep forum.

Big up from Night Tracks. :Q:

Can't vote as I'm pretty new but here were my picks.

Best Producer: Kahn. He's just dropped too many huge releases this year. All of them were inst-bags.
Best New Producer: Wen. Commotion EP. Nuff said.
Best DJ: Joe Nice. Every single show is amazing imo. With Youngsta I just can't really get into it and I find my self tuning out in the middle of it. Maybe I should just sit their and listen. I'm usually doing something when I tune into Youngsta.
Best Label: Deep Medi. Every release was great. Along with the Goth Trad LP this is a no-brainer.
Best New Label: Artikal. Simply because I love the Truth release they had. I might have chosen Innamind but not sure if they are "new". Peng Sound and Bandulu only have 1 release each so can't really base my opinion off that.
Best Track: Kahn & Neek - Percy. Would have chosen Kahn - Late Night Blues but it wasn't their. Percy was a close 2nd.
Best Remix: DJ Madd - The Life You Chose (Distance Remix). Big remix, that is all.
Best Album/Compilation: Mala - Mala In Cuba. Totally blew me away with how he blended Cuban music and dubstep. Mala smashes it, again.
Best Mix/Podcast: Jay 5ive - Deep Medi Mix. This is the only one I've listened to tbh and it's pretty damn good.
Best Radio Show: Gourmet Beats. Every show is amazing and coupled with the chatroom on sub.fm it is a great experience every time. Close second is Swamp 81.
Best Radio Station: Sub.FM. Great community and has a great cast of DJs.
Best Vocalist/MC: Toast. Even though the Youngsta shows aren't my cup of tea Toast always makes it a bit better.
Best Website/Blog: Get Darker. Not too into Hedmuk but I've just recently found out about FKOF and I look forward to seeing what they do. Get Darker gets it because of the mixes they have.
Best 120-140 BPM Producer: Kahn. See above. He can make anything.
Best 120-140 BPM DJ: Loefah. Love the Swamp 81 show.

Is it just me or is Hatcha no where to be seen? Why?
proud owner of Lurka's only big up

out to everyone with their opinions, you're entitled to them, but alot of people worked f**king hard the last year, (and years before that; but for the sake of the 2013 awards we'll say the last year), so ease up on the discrediting... talk about something positive to do with the awards, alot of posts in this thread are on a negative slant from the offset...

Big up all still putting back into this sound...

Big up everyone who nominated Uprise Audio for best new label. We only launched in November so it's a real honour to be included.

If we win, which is a big IF, we will give away a free BIG tune to celebrate :)

Much respect and love for all of your support.

Woke up to find i'd been nominated for "Best New Producer". Stoked to even be mentioned at all. Massive thanks to anyone who nominated me, it was a complete surprise. Some of the names in the category are outstanding and i'm massively humbled.

Not expecting to even come close to winning, just fakkin stoked that I even made the shortlist. It's quite overwhelming

Thanks, i'm feeling blessed today :)

Best Producers - Burial - Haven't really listened to any of the other producers that much this year and Burial has had some great releases this year so I voted for him.
Best New Producer - Wen - Again, can't say I really like or even have listened to any of the others so went with Wen cos Keysound is always quality.
Best DJ - BunZer0
Best Label - Keysound - imo, out of that list, the label that has released the most interesting music this year.
Best New Label - Sullen Tone - Can't believe that they're not getting more votes. Definitely the label that should win this category imo.
Best Track - Asteroids - Only Dubstep track I'm still waiting for. After that I'll probably be done with it all.
Best Remix - Gorgon Sound - Find Jah Way (Dubkasm Remix)
Best Album / Compilation - Shackleton - Music For The Quiet Hour
Best Mix / Podcast - Karenn - Boiler Room Mix - No computer in sight, just a table full of analog equipment pumping out some of the hardest, most brutal sounds I've heard in months.
Best Radio Show - BunZer0
Best Radio Statio - Sub FM
Best Vocalist / MC - Toast
Best Website / Blog - Night Tracks - I've seen all the others in the past, but so far Night Tracks has been the only one that was interesting enough for me to still check it out a couple of times a week. Nothing but quality stuff since day 1.
Best 120 - 140 BPM Producer - Blawan
Best 120 - 140 BPM DJ - BunZer0

people who complain about non dubstep (non-dungeon really) names in the list: these are the dubstep FORUM awards. They represent what the forum is feeling. So it doesn't only have to be 140. That would be shallow and overlooking a lot of things.

Dungeon, dungeon, dungeon... guess I should have expected that. Incredibly boring nominations though, half of these dudes are basically inter-changable.

How did Reso not end up anywhere on here? I saw at least 2 other people nominate him or his album (which was fucking incredible)... I mean I never expected he'd even come close to winning anything, but damn, he makes a lot of the nominations look like amateurs and NO ONE here is fucking with him when it comes to versatility.

Probably not gonna bother voting here, even though there's a fair bit of stuff here that I liked. What can one vote do against all that Mala/Kahn rimming?

Can't see how you can complain about a lack of versatility or interchangable sounds and then pack people for voting for Mala & Kahn in the same post.

Last year, Kahn was involved with a straight up dub tune (Find Jah Way), a dancehall tune (Backchat), straight up dubstep (Dread, etc.), garage (Margeaux), old school grime (Percy) and put out a mixtape of classic grime sets (Gorgon Grime). There is arguably NO other producer that covers as many bases as he does at the highest level. That's why he got my vote.

Mala too. This year he put out an album that heavily involved live musicians he worked with in Cuba. I thought the album was a bit gash, but I can appreciate that it was something new.

If you don't vote for the stuff you do like, then you can't really complain if some of the boring shit wins! :D
