Apparently for my post code (West End)

Shared Room
£535.17
1 Bedroom
£1083.33
2 Bedroom
£1256.67
3 Bedroom
£1473.33
4 Bedroom
£1733.33

Based on my (pretty cheap) shared room that'd cover around 75% of my rent before bills/council tax.

Nearly 99% of voters in the North voted against Independence from the UK in 1973, so I'm not sure they'd be too pissed off about other places geting it before them!

The vote resulted in an overwhelming majority of those who voted stating they wished to remain in the UK. The nationalist boycott contributed to a turnout of only 58.7% of the electorate. In addition to taking a majority of votes cast, the UK option received the support of 57.5% of the total electorate. According to the BBC, less than 1% of the Catholic population turned out to vote.

In comparison to central manchester, the average private rent on a 1bed flat is £500pcm-600pcm, LHA is set at 375pcm for that, so it is kind of relative but still when you consider NMW won't even cut it renting at £500pcm after bills, shows you the problem London has.

:W:
58% is a standard turnout in any election (the General election in 2001 only had that many), if 99% of them vote one way then it's still a majority vote even if the other 42% were all going to vote the other way, that's democracy.

Yes but there was a nationalist boycott. If the election was anywhere near a true reflection I doubt this shit would have happened.

You don't seem to grasp percentages and democracy though. There was a 58% turnout and 99% of them voted to stay part of the UK, even if you count all of the remaining 42% that didn't vote as Nationalists boycotting the vote that would have voted to be part of Ireland then the results would still be the majority in favor of staying part of the UK.

There were a minority that wanted the place to be part of Ireland and out of the UK, tie in some religion and aggro from both sides and you get the troubles.

Final word on that - the vast majority of people in N.Ireland consider themselves Northern Irish or British.

Just saying.

Image
The value of exports produced is dependent on the size of a region’s economy and it is important to note that the production of some goods (for example motor vehicles), can involve several separate stages of production that may take place across more than one region, therefore these figures should therefore be interpreted carefully. This indicator does not include the value of the export of services.

Even (incorrectly) assuming all wealth is generated from exports that map shows per employee- Greater London has about as many people living in it as Scotland and Wales combined. It'd look quite different if it was showing total amounts per region.

the protestants do.. because they ain't really irish....

Catholics wont call themselves british or "northern irish" just irish.

I think with the history of gerrymandering and whatnot in the north (where i believe there are still more brits living than irish?) i wouldn't trust statistics saying that everyone is perfectly happy with it.

Robert Emmet, Constance Markievicz, Wolf Tone, Roger Casement.

Just four of many Protestant Irish Nationalists. There are loads of protestant Irish both sides of the border

People have been going back and forth and invading each other all over Europe for the last couple of thousand years including people from mainland Britain to Ireland long before there was such a thing as a Protestant, and like someone pointed out- Britain and most of Europe was invaded and settled by Romans,Vikings, Normans, Saxons etc.- you don't see people saying keep Britain for the Britons and anyone with Saxon ancestors should go back to where they came from. And depending on how far back you want to go I'm guessing all the first people to get to Ireland went via Britain.

400+ years of ancestors in a place and they are still invading foreigners that need to get out in your eyes? Sounds pretty racist to me. And if you follow that logic then I'm pretty sure half of the worlds populations would need to migrate back (certainly most of N and S America).
