Black Sun and 2far Gone comes to mind. I still think Black Sun is Kode's best song to date.

Some more household names doing interesting stuff around 130. Wouldn't really fit in with the main bunch of 130 producers that we're mostly thinking of, but make tunes which can easily fit into sets of that style, and sort of shows the prominence of the tempo at the minute I reckon.

but theyre all clearly different genres

130 is fine imo
soon as names get thrown around and people start thinking 'hey i wanna make such a such genre music' then stuff starts getting wack, because people think there's a basic formula to make 'such and such genre music' and a load of samey shit comes out

didnt know ballads 4d was 130

130 is a lame name though, why call this shit just based on its tempo, you cant just say you like 130 cos everything is different, well not everything, there does seem to be a collective of people who are making a similar vibe :/

I do agree that you dont want to give it a name so that people start jumping on it making that, but dubstep had a name and was bless for a while, people are already making the same kinda shit anyway though. People need to slow down on rinsing grime mc samples lol.

and waht you mean you didnt know ballads was 130? you mean you didnt know it was exactly 130? does this music have to be 130? lol do you not make 130 if your tune is 132? thats the lame thing, like dubstep, why does it have to be the exact bpm lol, it wouldnt matter if Ballads was 125, you could still play it with a 130 tune if you NEED to stick to that tempo haha

For the record I dont see "130" as a genre name but a placeholder that restricts all the possibilities the least while still allowing people to know what/who is being referred to.

This is probably a good time to mention that a bunch of us from the keysound family have come together to start a night around this vibe to support and incubate these sounds.

The first one is e.m.m.a.'s album launch on sunday july 14th in Stoke Newington, North London.

E.M.M.A ALBUM LAUNCH

SULLY
E.M.M.A. V MOLESKIN
DUSK & BLACKDOWN
WEN V ETCH

7-11pm. Entry is free. More info here and here.

If you're feeling this vibe so far, then come on the 14th: be part of this, where ever its going.
