favorite movie director?

I liked it the first time I saw it but the more repeated viewings I give it the less enjoyable more obviously corny it gets to me. Not helped by the fact that the music is awful and I just don't like Russell Crowe much anyway.

It doesn't at least have quite the monumental plot holes or issues with spastic pacing that Prometheus has though. I will give it that.

Gladiator and Prometheus are shit though. Seriously you picked them as examples over Alien?

Prometheus while having a couple cool scenes is just a completely messy plot hole riddled disaster and Gladiator after the first watch is just dull and really pretty cheesy

but they're such enormous visions
& a there's an aspect of film directing that I admire that hasn't much to do with the result so much as the coordinating effort required
similar to the people who're in charge of building huge ships (including the Titanic)
a talent way beyond my wizened ability.

Fair enough but that doesn't explain why you mentioned them and not Alien which is a fucking incredible movie on pretty much all fronts.
