Oh okay, so you want all your work done for you - sure, use Vengeance.Renewed wrote:Totally random, is there a snare sample like that one used in Skrillex's First Of The Year? That's a kind of snare I'd love to use.
Btw, Skrillex in his own interview has stated he boosts quite heavily around 200hz on snares - so that should give you some ideas.
In all honesty though - stop trying to be / use / do things other artists do / make. You'll drive yourself nuts trying.
160 bpm roller - for all the skankas.

Also if you have 40 PRO packs...you are good. Seriously. Buying more sample packs is going to sort just about...none of your production problems. Also, I can't believe in 40 packs there aren't any 909 samples...

I agree, but emulating the ones that have made it and THEN branching out into your own sound is more logical, don't you think? You can't just come up with your own sound without understanding that which came before you. And Skrillex is someone to look up to. I sure as hell won't be able to conjure his snares on my own so fast.subfect wrote:Oh okay, so you want all your work done for you - sure, use Vengeance.Renewed wrote:Totally random, is there a snare sample like that one used in Skrillex's First Of The Year? Re: Absolute BEST Professional Sample Packs???
^You can make amazing tunes with free samples...what even makes a sample pack"Pro" anyway? I use free stuff just as often as I use paid for sample packs. And I'm sure no one would be able to tell the difference between the tunes with the free stuff and the paid stuff.
I think the point is, typically throwing money at a problem in music will always result in a few things:
1. Less money in your pocket
2. Fun new kit
Unless you have unlimited funds, throwing money at production problems usually doesn't work.

You need to cut that down to about 3, and sort them out. Then learn how to create your own samples through layering.
Nope, don't agree at all. I've found more success and progress by focusing on my own shit and seeing what comes out of it. As for skrillex to look up to - each to their own. Definitely not an inspiration to me.I agree, but emulating the ones that have made it and THEN branching out into your own sound is more logical, don't you think? I sure as hell won't be able to conjure his snares on my own so fast.
His snares btw, are really quite easy to make - but first you need to learn how to actually work with samples - see my advice above.
Tbh you have way too much. I wouldn't say so otherwise.Sure, I agree, but NOT having the pro packs isn't going to add anything either, right? It's a start.
I organised my sample collection just recently - about 7gb (not really that much compared with some other people), but I cut it down to just 800mb. Basically removed all the samples I thought were utter shit (bye-bye vengeance) and re-organised my sample collection into a folder structure that made sense to me - not some other sound engineer. The result - I get tracks done much faster, I used to spend hours just searching for samples.

Sure, the only reason I am getting as much pro packs as possible (btw I got tons of free packs, they all sound pretty much shit to me) is to go through them and leave what sounds great to me. I'd say 60% anyway of every pack is crap anyway. Of course I'm not going to use one single snare lol, I do know what layering is brosubfect wrote:lmfao.Renewed wrote:Sorry for being a retard but I don't really know what you mean by 909, I got like 40 pro sample packs already so...

Re: Absolute BEST Professional Sample Packs???
I disagree. There are GREAT one shots in their packs. You just need to learn how to hear and find them. they are literally used in professional tunes you hear on beatport all the time. Sub Focus uses them. Reso uses them. Need i say more? I don't think anyone is getting blue in the faceHuts wrote:People aren't just 'hating' for the sake of hating, they're saying why they suck and offering great alternatives. There are some usable things in vengeance for sure, but the one shots are no doubt complete shit. Their popularity isn't an indicator of quality (although I'm sure someone will try and argue this until they're blue in the face).claudedefaren wrote:Whoaaaa, vengeance samples are top notch, ignore the haters. Sooooo many successful producers use them. People hate on them because they're popular and expensive, like they airways do with things like that (massive, for example).
Also really good are the Hy2rogen Full Phat Drums packs.

Yo Renewed, you're receiving a lot of elitist, pompous responses from these guys. You don't need that. I would not take their advice if i were you. If you want to make banging brostep, nab the vengeance essential dubstep pack, and the hy2rogen packs. You'll be set man.

Re: Absolute BEST Professional Sample Packs???
If you're just trying to mimic bro producers, sample a snare off their track and be done with it.
Granted, lifting snares out of tracks is a heinous act, but not much worse than using dry preprocessed hits as far as production skill goes. The only consolation for having your samples jacked is that the people doing it are usually wastemen who aren't going anywhere anyway. Of course this doesn't apply if you're sampling from another genre from another decade.
OP it sounds like you've downloaded enough sample packs as it is, why don't you actually go do some producing?

Re: Absolute BEST Professional Sample Packs???
I just have a hard time believing out of 40 packs you still don't have what you are looking for. Processing skills aside. I mean, every sample pack is going to have hits you never use. But Christ you've gotta have like at least 15 gigs of samples in 40 packs right?
IMO, you aren't really ever going to find sample packs that have hits that are perfect out of the box. But if you want to waste time and money looking for a unicorn, go for it.

I am not trying to mimic. Right now, it's learning by emulating FOR MYSELF. Then once I feel confident, I'll do my own crap. I actually wouldn't ever lift snares out of tracks, should be crap quality anyway?

Renewed, don't listen to this guy or buy into his agenda. Understand also that I'm not suggesting you pirate the samples, not that i could prevent you from pirating anything in the first place (I'd be surprised if sunklo hasn't pirated music). I'm saying, they are definitely what you're looking for.
You don't need to make your own samples from scratch in order to make good music. Make good music, on your own terms. Fuck the haters
