WELL I WANT TO EAT MY FUCKING STEAK AND YOU CAN'T KEEP ME FROM EATING MY FUCKING STEAKSCope13 wrote:Holy fuck I hate how meat eaters get SO FUCKING DEFENSIVE whenever the subject comes up. There's no argument against vegetarianism/veganism.
IN FACT, IN LIGHT OF THIS THREAD. I WILL EAT A GIANT STEAK ON A PLATE MADE OF STEAK, USE CUTLERY MADE OF STEAK, WHIPE OFF MY CHIN WITH A STEAK NAPKIN AND WASH IT ALL DOWN WITH STEAK JUICES
STEEEAAAAK
STEAK STEAK STEAK STEAK STEAK
For real tho'. There's a pretty easy argument for it; moral relativism. I hate the extremists from both sides because there's no real logical answer to it, it's all personal preference. There's equally valid reasons to eat anything. I'm personally not fuzzed with what anyone eats tbh. I eat meat but I'm not passionate about it.

anyway a vegan mum ignorantly starving their kid
is no less tragic & irresponsible
than slobbish parents poisoning their kids with carbohydrates
or, for that matter, half the people on here
killing themselves with shit diets, drugs & lack of exercise
so don't you lot get on your high horses,
shit happens to everyone
(except a few of us perfectly righteous ones trying to bring our hard-won wisdom to your cloth ears)

how do you reconcile moral relativism with libertarianism?Genevieve wrote: For real tho'. There's a pretty easy argument for it; moral relativism. Like how can taxes be theft if most people in a community agree that taxes are appropriate.

well moral relativism doesn't really go well with any ideology, as every one prescribes a certain behaviourscspkr99 wrote:how do you reconcile moral relativism with libertarianism?Genevieve wrote: For real tho'. Re: Baby Breastfed By Vegan Mother Dies
that's not necessarily true but regardless it seems kina unusual for someone claiming that tax is slavery to suggest that morality is relative
relativism seems much less compelling than libertarianism tbh and I don't fancy that much

I'm "libertarian" because I AM a moral relativist and I don't believe in violently enforcing one person's morality against someone elsescspkr99 wrote:how do you reconcile moral relativism with libertarianism?Genevieve wrote: For real tho'. Anyway, if you say no to the taxes, if you refuse long enough, you get a bullet in your head. Literally. I know I sound waay melo-dramatic but it's still what would happen. Being incapable of refusing makes it force.
But, if the people entirely agree with the tax code and are in agreement with paying the share that the state expects of them, then they aren't being aggressed against, no. But by forcing other people to adhere to a taxation code they don't agree with, they're aggressing against them. And I'm allowing other people to contribute voluntarily to the state all they want. But they don't offer me the same type of freedom.
What about people who agree with taxes, but think we're waaaay overtaxed? Or people who agree it IS theft/violence, but a necessary form of violence?
I think I'm super incoherent and all over the place right now cuz I can't focus properly right now.

Re: Baby Breastfed By Vegan Mother Dies
It seems to me that while no violence is an irrefutable moral position for libertarians there are others that are only superficially relative. like are you saying that morality is relative to each individual? If so it's kind of meaningless if it's relative to a particular society or culture then moral relativism would hold that it may be morally okay to justify executing people for non payment of taxes. That said I'm kinda socially libertarian to a degree and there are some similarities to moral relativism in that I don't think it's necessary to take moral positions on certain questions.
I've spent over 40 years lacking coherence I wouldn't worry about it too much

Everyone should be socially libertarian tbh.

Re: Baby Breastfed By Vegan Mother Dies
Even though most of my favourite food is meat-based, and I couldn't see myself not eating it, I can understand why people are against it (in terms of the animal's quality of life) and don't really have time for the anti-vegetarian/vegan aggro that goes about.
Re: Baby Breastfed By Vegan Mother Dies
Serious question: how do you forsee your anarcho-capitalist (or whatever term you prefer, sorry for making assumptions) revolution taking place without the use of violence?Genevieve wrote:I'm "libertarian" because I AM a moral relativist and I don't believe in violently enforcing one person's morality against someone elsescspkr99 wrote:how do you reconcile moral relativism with libertarianism?Genevieve wrote: For real tho'. Like how can taxes be theft if most people in a community agree that taxes are appropriate.I know there is a small confict there, because my absolute opposition to violence isn't a morally-relativist one, but I think it strikes the best balance.
