Yep......just a cop out by parents/cops/governments/authorities and other bullshit-peddlars, and an excuse for them not to look at their own, often contributary, behaviour, and instead find a scapegoat.

And TBH, sometimes, the rudeboy lyrics and gun-talk add to the music by intensifying the dark and menacing vibes of certain tracks, and that aint nessecarily a bad thing, IMO.

If I had done everything big scary black men had told me too in music I would have assaulted lots of people, beaten up women and killed some homosexuals.

I wasn't suggesting that violence in lyrics causes listeners to be more violent though. I just think that all the posturing is all a bit daft.

Surely you don't think that direct intent of violence in a lyric is the same as violent content in a computer game or a film. Quite apart from the cultural cachet that emcees have as opposed to film or computer games the fact that it is first person delivery and supposedly based upon the reality of a life as lived makes it entirely different.
