Those kinds of statements come about because of an otherwise dull and fundamentally meaningless existence outside of their moments of intoxication.Muncey wrote:"profound changes in consciousness" are the types of phrases that put me of psychedelics. My mate took acid for years and told me nothing but hilarious stories.. nothing about these profound life changing experiences. Not that I don't doubt people have them and they can be eye opening or have moments of clarity, its just a bit of a cliche that you take some mushrooms once and turn into some hippy philosopher. Seems forced and full of shit most the time.
I've had some great ideas while steaming but I don't go round banging on about alcohol being a magic potion that unlocks a secret door to a hidden dimension of creativity.

Yeah well - If the world is just a fuck off bunch of greedy children grabbing for candy….
…then you know.
I don't care how much strategium you're able to muster…
If the game is ugly it needs to die.
I'm not uncivil...Ya know….Wait.

It totally depends on where you're doing it mate. The setting is as important as the drug itself, it's not like instant insight. Wandering around a nightclub or festival off your tits, as I've done many a time, isn't really conducive to the experience. Nor is sitting around with mates watching Alan Partridge. Not to say that isn't fun, though! I find being by yourself and not really expecting to "discover" anything is the best way.Muncey wrote:My mate took acid for years and told me nothing but hilarious stories.. nothing about these profound life changing experiences. Potency is important too. Blotters are, in my experience, usually quite weak.

Jesslem - why you being so aggy….
We already said it was fun…
AND much to your hippie dread - profoundly insightful as well…
So what about that you minx….
It's super fun and you might have the secret universe illuminated at the same time…
I've been at the crossroads…you dig..?!
I just don't want some unsuspecting kid to take my cue
and land themselves in the psyche ward for the next 6 months….
…because they thought it was drunk pie.
I have many stories of people doing just that.

Re: Sam Harris (Philosopher/Neuroscientist) on Psychedelics
My very first acid trip was significantly affecting…
..so don't try to tell me I'm being inventive….
I've even had a cliche' "grateful dead" experience…
and I've never followed the group - their music - or any of their cultural trappings…
I was literally seeing those dancing skull bear shits…and I was fully conscious of it...
I was like WTFUCK!!! Those grateful dead things!!!
I had to think about connections.
That was a funny funny trip - I was on blue Rx's from Rhode Island…

Re: Sam Harris (Philosopher/Neuroscientist) on Psychedelics
One of our friend disappeared for 2 weeks…
and when he came back we were all like -
"DUDE - Where have you been!!!"
and he was like…
"I smoked some crack. And then I smoked some more....
And then 4 or 5 days later I was like - WTFUCK I can't stop smoking crack….
and it took me a whole nother week to stop - but now I'm back…
I'm never fucking with that again."
That was the funniest thing ever.
One of the funniest things.
There's a lot of them.
His name was Steve.
I had a big time crush on him.

He just dabbled for a split second and got enough.

How can you be so condescending to crackheads as to deprive them of their personhood and the qualies that come with it? They love crack just like stoners love stones and psychies love psychies tbh.
"he's our friend" lol, you judgy person.

He's married now and lives in Beijing….
Here's a picture of him messing with venomous snakes in Thailand…
I guess he's still into somewhat dangerous behavior…

Here he is with his lady….
