vex'd definitely rocked it , keeping the styles changing throughout the set. Joe Nice murdered it as usual , his first set and into the wee hours . something about mala tunes at dubwar , just beautiful

Joe was actually driving the system  the bass was making a square wave on the frequency channels in the booth. The club just re-fitted a few of the speakers and was told not to let that happen. we were actually reducing the volume consistantly during his set.

Also, vinyl is King on LOVE's system! The Original Fast Finger Daddy (Joe Nice) ONLY plays vinyl

no audio from us-- soundcheck was a bit rough and i don't think we ever had a chance to discuss recording it, even.

a few of the tunes that we played are in the podcast i just did for Indian Electronica radio: www.indianelectronica.com/radio .

Ok -- i did play the vinyl for this. Come on now !

In all reality, it's now Tuesday and i'm still feeling the effects of Saturday night -- and it's not the "Dubwar hangover *". I'm physically tired.

* Dubwar Hangover (def): the depressed feeling you encounter when an amazing party is over. You can apply this to any party, "FWD>> Hangover", "DMZ Hangover"....etc, etc.

Seriously. the past two dubwars have been epic, but this past weekend was different. The energy was primal. You could've cut the electricity in the air with a knife and eaten it with a spoon.

Being in the crowd -- surrounded by shoulders, sweat and sound is one experience that i know all too well.

Being in the booth -- it's another experience altogether. For me, i'm keenly aware of everything that's happening. People watching me. Ravers looking for the 5. The basslines tickling my toes (i don't wear shoes when i play). It's a different level of concentration. a heightened sense of awareness. The next plateau of being. I'm always exhausted after i play; it's the combo of mental and physical energy for a full 60, 90 or 120 that taps me out. The booth -- it's a storm of sound that batters your body and beats you into submission. Most people don't know this -- there's a sub under the decks -- and all you can feel is air and vibration.

At 630am, Juakali said, "Man, i'm sore already."

Dave, Sharmaji, Ruben (the sound genius) and i all looked at each other and knew exactly what he was talking about. You eventually have to pay the price for this level of fun. There's no such thing as a free lunch.

Saturday night/Sunday morning....it's one of those nights that drains you for days. Seriously. I slept the majority of sunday -- I was in a daze monday and i'm still sort of in a daze today. (I don't drink/smoke). So much energy was spent. You almost feel that nights like Saturday night/Sunday morning cut your life expectancy by a few hours or a day...but....i wouldnt have it any other way.

It's what i love to do.

dude sing alongs are a must. :P

my friend and i flew out from out of state to check this out and it definitely exceeded our expectations. at first, i was sorta disappointed by the low volume.... man was i fooled.

Second track that joe threw down, my friend (mind you, he's a big buff football player) and i immediately held hands, jumped up and down, and screamed like little school girls. we were redunkulous.

my friends stayed til it was time to catch his flight. luckily for me i stayed and got to stomp with the stamina crew til the end. man, can't wait for my next dubwar.

Anyone know a date for December yet, think there's a fair chance I'll be in NYC for it as I'm training out there for a monthish during late Nov early Dec with a new job.

I thought it was your tune. Didn't know it was called Bounce though, or that it was out. Will be picking it up. Available in digital?

also, what is going on this month?

a lot of people travel for this, and have to start booking hotels and whatnot. It's impossible to get a room in NY for less than 200 bucks within a week of an event. unless you are staying way outside of Manhattan or are in Jersey, which is like 50 bucks by cab because of the tolls.
