By the same reasoning, neither does immersing yourself in bass-drenched dark rooms with spliff in one hand & lager in the other. But I'd never suggest it

Hmmmmmm....
Religious Icons...?
Well, there is the overused 'jah' sample.
Pseudo mysticism....?
People claiming to 'meditate' whilst listening to bass (Yeah, right - I practice TM and regular meditation, and there's no way in hell you can truly meditate through that racket, despite how many drugs you've shoveled up your bum)
Dubstep is halfway there already, it seems....
Who's up for some fire jugglin'?

edit: you say its all trustifarians, but here in NY i've seen 4-5 people over 70 years old at psytrance parties, and a handful of people younger than age 10... seems the median age is about 30, maybe a little younger, like late twenties.

I think people mistake being rather too lean with meditation. I've got mates that "provide" for the psy-trance scene, and the majority of their punters are about as spiritual as tarmac. Still it seems to pull hippy chicks so fair play to them.
I avoid trance wherever possible, cause it just reminds me of the Knightrider theme at the wrong speed

Hmm....

certain dubstep and psytrance tunes seem to be the only music that goes deep in me..agreed there is a lot of shit which clutters up all genres and thus easy for ppl who are unfamiliar to judge.. kinda like shopping at tkmax u just gotta sift thru a lot of wank to find the real gems altho there will always be ppl of little taste to buy that wank and restore the balance.the grimey element of dubstep is wot keeps out pussys so i fear if becomes more psychedelic it will lose its edge..not that i think it ever wil tho

I love grime being a drum and bass head for a long time. but as a producer and a lover of melding styles I think it can be done grimey and psy at the same time.... its almost like to good to be true for me because they are my two favorite vibes. grimey and trippy.
leave it to me to be so drunk and weeded that i post in a 3 year old thread...lo
