Learn the basics of synthesis...

...only to find out that you can use a of 2 detuned basic (sin/pulse) or more exotic waves, use ringmodulation or FM synthesis, or even a combination of all these. Use what your synth has to offer, try to find the best way around it's limitations. Effects like chorus or distortion are just modulators, you don't need much of them if you have a decent source sound.

Then, if your synth has synced LFO's, you MAY put coki's bassline into shame

right.

square + saw slightly detuned from each other with the saw one octave above the square. band pass filter with low resonance. mix in sine sub and fm with ring mod. wank out on the filter lfo/glide/pitchbend.

calm down dear, it's only a forum!

fair play, you asked a production question. i should have saved my comments for one of the countless other "i want to sound <b>"similar"</b> to ..." threads.

looks like you've got plenty of people giving you the tech advice so hopefully you've got your answer now.

looking forward to the road rage remixes...only joking, only joking!

peace and love and all that innit

No need for slaying - i'll second that statement.

...actually all you need to do is buy the VST Coki plug in and press the Spongebob button. Once you've copied his sound to the exact letter, simply sit back and wait for everyone to pat you on the back and tell you how clever you are.

calm down bruv, the point i made was mainly for discussion purposes not even aimed personally at you necessarily, i did take into account what you said in the beginning of your post - but well done for respoding in a really mature way

Something about Coki?

Bury the Bwoy is MALA...
And also, if making a Coki bassline is so easy to make, how come Coki is so renowned for it? If Hendrix copied his shit of Led Zeppelin, then why is Hendrix so known? Fucking hell.

Hendrix released his first album in 67 died in 70...Led Zeppelin released Led Zeppelin 1 in 1969...just thought i'd clear that up.

i'll also add that hendrix revolutionized how the instrument was used (playing style and sound) and wrote some beautiful songs in the process , check axis bold as love the album ...having said that i also own everything that led zep have released...Jimmy page was noted more for being able to pull meaty riffs out of the air everytime...not a single ledzep song without one, his sound and style was pretty standard minor pentatonic/blues scale guitar wank offs, but good ones (apart from the weird Mid-evil gypsy acoustic ramblings) ...crikey i'm on one today.

anyway back to the topic ..or have we finished?

i was gonna point that out about hendrix and zeppelin but decided not to. blizzard's right though, coki isn't playing around.
personally, i wouldn't say basslines are coki's strongest point though, i'd say he's better at drums and getting each element to compliment each other in the tune. his bass always compliments his drums perfectly, and any other samples/riffs he brings in sit perfectly on top.

Just like to say I like Coki's style quite alot;) I like his basslines and I cannot think why they would be hard to reproduce. Trying to find how someone else makes something like a bassline could take a very long time.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

honestly, it doesn't matter whether man uses reason or anything else. A sound like that can be achieved with many a synth. It's really bugging me that people seem to think that these sequencers have some sort of entrylevel to them. Each and every one is just as good as the other. Using reason doesn't mean you're some sort of novice. trust.
I know a fair few of people who release records and use Reason to make them and lots that don't who make sick tunes. I personally hate the sequencer so use Cubase with it rewired - I was just asking the question cos I'm interested to know, not cos I wanna give up what I'm doing and switch to what he uses, FFS!

Shut the fuck up.

You clearly don't know about dubstep then because Coki was probably one of the first people to have that sound and then people copied him.

Such a Squatjuice attitude.
