Easy, been reading this forum for a while now, some great threads, lots of love going on round here.
Had to post this, if anyone remembers the FSOL essential mix from '93 it had an amazing track on it called 'Wizard of the four winds' by Neuro Project. Its almost impossible to find now but after 12 years i finally got one, i didn't even know what it was called until recently. Anyway its completely deleted so i hope no one minds if i post an mp3 on yousendit...

Also i don't think anyone has mentioned Bandulu yet, well worth chasing down their album Antimatters.
respect

awesome...you don't know how often i had FSOL mixes on rotation from 1999 - 2001. I never had a name for this one (what a title though) or a load of the other stuff they used to play.milanese wrote:Easy, been reading this forum for a while now, some great threads, lots of love going on round here.

Wish bandulu were still around, id have put the boys down as being big fans of the dubstep, seeing as they were pushing the dub sound forward at the time, definately a parallel influence...milanese wrote:

heehee you're all showing your age!
At 32, I get a bit misty eyed at mentions of music around the early 90's... so many tunes from that blew me away have stood the test of time... Basscad remix (the one on the limited vinyl box pack), Polygon Window, Incunabula, FSOL, early Rising High (Air Liquide etc)
musical genres hadn't solidified as much then, it was all just good music (and a bloody difficult to mix as a DJ, but we tried anyway)

I have this 12" at home of a track on Renegade Hardware: 'System'
Always loved that track, deepness proper..
That along with the early No-U-Turn releases (in particular Input by Fierce) definately seem to me like some kind of dubstep pre-cursors.
** edit **
just scanned discogs for 'system', turns out thats also by Fierce
.. heh heh.. gwan son !

a lot of the early-mid 90's electronica/IDM stuff has shaped my taste for music now ... i still listen to the music that blew me away all that time ago
the arena of dubstep/electro(nica)/whateverstep that's bubbling away has a lot of the similar vibes and creativity that was around back in the old days

so good to hear and see it happening still

You can just hear the crossover of dub/punk, that transition from band music to electronic - making dance music with 8-tracks and bass guitar.... Legendary.
