I never had a problem with any of the releases. Even the Vista versions. I use both. There was an update after the one they recalled which works fine. 1.07 I think.

Very tempted by NI Traktor Scratch. Used both Torq and Serato - both very good although Serato seemed more stable, but Traktor Scratch looks like it's the killa now.

Yeah I've had no problems with 1.07 so far, will report back once I use it a few times in a club.

i still love my torq... i spend so much time with it, and it wasn't an easy decision to switch. after it crashed on a friend of mine while playing, i got scratch...
only then i realised what a huge difference there was. its about many small details, stability and sound... torq is good (i was never too fond of the traktor Software) but rather for @ home... cause the sound really differs and is unstable. the hardware is just not made for frequent Club gigs either.
i don't think scratch will run properly with only one channel either, though.

I actually do like the Traktor interface. I used FS1.5 for a while. I had the thing since it came out but I considered it unusable due to the shite scratch amp. The Traktor Scratch software was the best thing about it. I really wanted to save up for Traktor Scratch but I know how those things go. End up needing the savings for bills somewhere along the line so I opted for the el cheapo. Well worth the price. I can't say I don't want Traktor Scratch now though. A luxury I will probably never have. Studio upgrades are a priority over dj shit.

That is highway robbery. I guess you are paying for the mspinky software as well? Still I need new vinyls, I may be looking into this.
Yeah, the first purchase requires you to buy their software, after that the vinyl is significantly cheaper from what I have been told. The records that Torq comes with are Ms Pinky records, so you are buying the exact same quality / product just direct through Ms Pinky & with the option of getting the 45 records + colors.
I have yet to see any instability with Torq in my setup, or a good friend that bought it over a year ago. We both run Mac's, so I am not sure if the stability issues / bugs are different between the platforms, but so far so good.
I'll never use any of the on board effects with Torq I don't think, so that wasn't a selling point for me. What sold me was the fact that it's M-Audio & I've had good success using their products, the price point, personal experience using it, and the fact that I got 40% off of MSRP.
From what I have read on the Torq forums, most instability issues / problems turn out to be hardware related, bad cables, decks, carts, etc. That tells me that the product itself is pretty stable, of course there are always the strange issues from time to time with any software, including all of the other time encoded setups, so you'll want backup options if you use any of them.
I dig Torq & am glad that I got it.

But yeah that is blatantly cheaper than buying Torq and mspinky vinyls separate. Those 45 vinyls are on my christmas list.

I would hook up the discounts if I could, but it's an internal agreement between m-audio & my company that allows the employees discounts & quantities & such are restricted.

So you can now play 45rpm with torq? as there are 45's avaliable from that mspinky?
but these are not standard when you buy it from say digital village?
I just noticed how cheap torq is, might get it..would be very useful and i cant afford the similar more expensive products

this is about £150 these days.
is there any reason why i SHOULDN'T buy this?
all i want to use it for is beatjuggling my own tunes, and ripping/mixing .wavs of my vinyl collection. i'm not going to be using it for playing out.
has it ever fucked up on anyone while beatjuggling? does it feel the same as vinyl? how often does it skip? can you make any record skip proof???

You get what you pay for. It's solid and reliable enough to use at home although I've had the program crash on me a few times in the past with various versions so I would not be very confident spinning live with it.
