that's actually a complete urban myth. Yes it's used in veterinarian applications, but also for humans, esp babies afaik. It's just another disassociative anaesthetic.

nmda is pretty widely used medically in humans, its by no means just an animal anaesthetic. although quite why people would want to take an anaesthetic on a night out is slightly beyond me. oh and its effects at high doses mimic schizophrenia.

lol at this thread.

There was no drugs in ibiza

although is it me or is ket getting a bit too common. I mean the cereal is great i agree  but i dont take the piss and eat like a box a day, usually not even a whole box in a weekend and i try not to get ridiculously full up... but there are more and more people taking the piss with it...

The real one i was getting worried about was 2ci. That was sending people (including me) loopy. Had to stop....

You can spot them a mile off in any club. They are the ones that look completely fucked and spaced off their fucking nuts moving at about 1 bpm.

Allow that shit. Can't even speak to them. They just mumble like fucking idiots. At least you can spark them out and not feel sorry, they won't even feel it.
lolll.

ye thats just waste, to be spaced out and overly antisocial...

socialising aint THAT important i suppose, but at least be able to engage in it and be a bit human as appose to being a zomby on the dancefloor.

wotever drug(s) u choose to take, it shud be to a TOOL to enhance the rave and the actuall raving experience, should make u skank out and have more fun with it as appose to makin u unable to rave. thats just a waste of a night and bad vibes.

haha. if one thing is going to ruin dubstep, it will be dubstep itself.

drugs always play a part in music. it might be positive, it might be negative but they play a part and a party wouldn't be the same without them.

ketamine gets a bad press. its not as bad as people make out. know your limits

bootystep wrote:ok, so i dont post on this forum enough to know if this is going to be a repost (apologies if so)... but i've been around in Dubstep to know that this is a serious issue.

I went to a 'dubstep night' tonight, that was incredibly mediocre.... my mates that used to take the piss out of me for listening to dubstep were really bored by the music until the K man turned up (with a polo ring around his face). Up until this point they wouldnt have been dancing, but as soon as K was in the equation suddenly it made their night go round....

I could no longer have a convo with them, and the dj was incapable of putting tunes together, but somehow this solidarity of confusion made them want to dance... this really disturbs me.

I remember a time when i could say to people "dubstep isnt about drugs, its about the music", but to the masses this has clearly changed

Is Ketamine to blame for this, or is it a case of the massess wanting to get off their nut, and ketamine delivering?

Personally, I want to go to a night where people appreciate the tunes... Its not a night of mediocre production, mixing and promotion.... but it is a room full of like minded people wanting to tickle their pancreas! Has the spirit of dubstep been lost on the masses through ketamine? Or am I a lone soldier that attempts to see through the bass?

Your thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated x
It is the same as saying if Ketamine was present during a Britney Spears concert, would you dance? Everyone probably would. They probably thought "O, lets have one of these, we are bored, might save the night".

It is still about the music 8)

I love ketamine but it's an afterparty drug, surely?

agree with the afterparty statement, although a little bump here n there twists up a mdma rush quite nicely.

K is the student and trustafarian choice of club drug at the moment, which gets tired fast.

But actual LOL at the first incredibly niave post. If you're that offended by K-Heads either give them shit about it (and first hand experience, ramming into and generally being a tnuc to mongs in clubs is a lot of fun) or go somewhere else. Whinging on a forum that it's going to ruin an entire music genre is pointless and a bit stupid.
I make music as Forsaken, you can DL all my unreleased (and a couple released) bits here.

the OP is the type i mentality i ignore in order to avoid getting infected by it. i happen to enjoy ketamine, when the time is right. i'm not even going to go into some anecdote about my personal reasons, but suffice to say i have had several personally important experiences because of that lovely compound.

additionally, the OP makes it seem like you have no idea about the difference between introverts and extroverts, which automatically makes me stop caring what your thoughts are. sorry to single you out here, there have been a couple people with really boneheaded opinions on the subject "OMG DROOGZ R BAD N I M SMRT PLUURRR GUIZE" and honestly i think some people just need to shut the hell up about it because it's pretty embarrassing to read. the facts about ketamine is severely lacking and the amount of opinion is vast like a sea of shit.

it's a chemical.. it effects some people in a way that they enjoy. for me personally it was USEFUL for working out some of my more complicated issues. if you don't like that you can fuck right off, son.

Is that really true? Its been used medically for decades hasnt it? I saw a program when someone had been involved in a car crash. They gave him morphine but he was still in agony. They then gave him ket and he felt fine :)

it's all good fun until someone dies

but anyway dubstep has already been ruined by halfstep, reggae samples, topless ravers, DNB producers, kids on E, beer, women, weed, darkness, lightness, vocal samples and Pendulum well according to this forum anyway

My opinion:

First of all, to say any drug is going to ruin a certain genre of music is a bit silly. The notion of something ruining something as big as a genre would imply that it's got to be pretty catastrophic. I'm pretty confused. Do you mean that the quality of dubstep tunes produced will be lower, do you mean that nights out will consist of nothing but ket-induced people dancing to ket-induced tunes by a ket-induced DJ? Somehow, I can't see either happening.

People take whatever, don't they? Each person has a preferred thing, some like the Madman, some like Special K, fuck, a group of people I know take some morning glory before they pop off for the night out. It's a preferred experience, you can experience a different kind of feeling you normally would to something else, which includes being sober. So you saw someone else on K, so what? So you're sober and you can see the other guy grinding his teeth a bit, so what? If you're at a night out and you're focusing more on the people than you are the music, then that's quite hypocritical. Fair enough, sometimes people have had one too many and might be steaming all over the gaff, you can then tell them to do one but in a polite way. If you see someone on K moving at 1bpm, what's it matter? You're there for the music, you enjoy it, as will they. If they look like their going to die or suddenly crash into the stage, just ask them if they're alright. Don't think "Fucking Ketheads" because that's just crap.

Drugs can be used in a purely experimental way, and also something to give you a little bit of a kick. If you want to see what dubstep sounds/feels like after consuming a million grams of coffee, do it! If you want to have laugh, have a beer maybe, stay sobre and enjoy the music, do it! It's different experiences, just stop worrying about it and have a crack.

Ketamine won't ruin Dubstep. Time will change Dubstep, as it's always been with musical progression.

I'm not even going to proof-read this, it's probably full of fucking contradictions and gay words like PENISPUMP.

They're too late. It's already been ruined by the influx of moshers, nu-rave kids, trendies, chavs, pill monsters, emo kids, internet neeks, ginger people, opera fans, teddy boy revivalists etc etc cf dubstepforum passim. It's also the first genre ever to be simultaneously too fast and too slow.

I didn't know this until the other day. I was chatting to some guy 'round my mates house and he was incapacity benefit due to his bladder problem caused by Ket.

He told me about it, then proceeded to snort a big line :!:
"Are you trying to tell me the cable company are sending me lizards?"
